Hi,everyone,

I will be in Paris just for a few days, and will only be travelling extensively on one of those days, off to CDG to pick up my brother then back to the hotel and then some sightseeing. Is Mobilis the most sensible metro ticket choice? Does it include CDG (someone said that it doesn't in one of the previous postings) and also the cablecar (don't know what this is properly called) to Montmarte? What about Batobus? (does Mobilis or Parisvisite include this?) Thank you. Am leaving tomorrow for Europe...

Hello,
I think the easiest thing to do would be to buy a carnet of tickets for your stay, and then get a Mobilis zone 1-5 for the day you have to go to CDG (12 euros). According to the RATP (Paris public transport network), the Mobilis isn't valid on the special airport services such as Roissybus and Orlybus, but from what I can gather on the RATP, web site, a Mobilis pass would be valid on the RER B which you can take to CDG.
The Mobilis is a one-day pass, and it does include the funicular to Sacré Coeur, but not the Batobus. Parisvisite passes range from 1 to 5 days, and again, include the funicular but not the Batobus.

If you go to http://www.ratp.fr/ and click on "Paris Visite" you will find all of the info you need.

The funicular costs the same as a bus (1 ticket).

The Batobus is not included (it's 11E for one day).

You can take the Montmartrebus (no. 18) from Place Pigalle to Pl Jules Joffrin and back for 1E.

You can get off at Sacre Coeur going or coming. You will have to use another ticket to complete the loop.

YOu may have seen a prior post by me that the Mobilis is not good at CDG. Someone who lived in Paris told me. I haven't tried it. However, I think it is not because if you go to the RATP site and go to the section on access to airports, then CDG, it lists what tickets/fares are acceptable and it does NOT include a Mobilis. A Carte Orange for zones 1-5 is accepted, though, as well as the Paris Visite.

It does list the Mobilis 1-4 as being accepted in the Orly section, which is why I don't think it is at CDG. It has something to do with who actually owns that stop or something like that. I think the airport owns it at the end or something like that. I don't suppose it's tragic if it doesn't, I imagine you'll just owe a supplement or something.

BTW, I just read the info on the Mobilis that I think hanl read and I think the difference is that it says it excludes Roissyrail, not just the Roissybus. I believe the rail line at the end is Roissyrail, from Gare du Nord to CDG. This is what it says:

IN any case, it would be cheaper to buy a single ticket than that Mobilis just for the airport that day, I'm pretty sure it's only about 8-9 euro, and the Mobilis is 12.

Christina, on reading your post, I think you're right about the Mobilis and CDG. I've never heard of Roissyrail, just assumed that the RER B stops would be covered by the Mobilis. Actually I think it's quite cheeky of the RATP to exclude CDG from a tourist travel pass. But that's another issue...

I suppose the best thing for lonmermaid to do would be to check with an RATP agent before purchasing any travel pass or tickets.

good thing I checked my post for the last time before heading out. i guess i will just ask the salesperson (actually write it since i don't speak one word of french) before heading out to CDG. so when i get back in about two weeks, i will post a note if mobili is in fact useful for CDG. if they do exclude only CDG -- meaning paris visite for all tourists rather than mobili that is cheaper -- that is rather tacky of them...

If I'm interpreting the sources I've found correctly, Roissyrail is the express train from CDG to Gare du Nord. It runs along a similar route as the RER B, but is faster because of fewer stops. According to what I've read, a Mobilis pass is good on all RER lines and therefore a Zone 1-5 pass would work for getting from CDG to Paris.

Okay. I've done a little more reading and now I'm confused. My statement above about Roissyrail being different from the regular RER B may be all wrong so the Mobilis pass may not work. Does anyone know for sure?

Hi I just got back from Paris -- and the rest of France where I will never return and waste my dollars. (I don't speak any French, but still, travelling in France for our 4-people-Asian-family was like stepping into some racist hell hole -- such a rude, mean, bitchy, racist country...who cares if the country is filled with pretty things, but once people are such creeps and unbearably rude and toxic, the rest doesn't matter and simply ruins your spirit...but I must stop before becoming too enraged for this thread...) Anyway, to everyone who graciously helped me while planning. NO: Paris Mobilies does NOT cover CDG. It covers 5 zones, but EXCLUDES the CDG. So the only option to make the roundtrip to the airport in one day (I was picking up my brother) worth it was to buy the Paris Visite Card. Another French way to make foreigners feel even more confused and spend more money...

Was there a reason you couldn't just buy a round trip on the RER rather than the Paris Visite? And through all this it just seems difficult to go pick up someone at the airport if you are a tourist there. Perhaps your brother could have taken a taxi and saved you this aggravation.

I thought so, thanks for posting for others to know. I don't really think this is just to confuse foreigners, though, as the Mobilis isn't a tourist pass and is used more by residents than tourists, I suspect. A lot of tourists don't even know about it. I think it is strange that the people who own Roissyrail won't accept the Mobilis but will accept the Carte Orange, however.

A Paris Visite for one day probably made sense (at 17 euro) as you could then use it for other trips within Paris that same day. I think that would be about the same price as a RT RER ticket and is also the price of a RT Roissybus ticket in itself (each is about 8 euro one-way, the Roissybus is 8.2 euro one-way).
