Paris in February: photos from Nikki

Now that I have learned how to post photos using the photo CDs from the drug store, and the ones I posted the other day from London and France seem to work, I thought I'd try these from my trip to Paris last February. This is the link:

The trip report for this trip was previously posted at http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34574921

Nikki - great pictures, November and our annual trip can not come soon enough!!! Let's talk about the recycle bin that was chock full of wine bottles....I'm guessing it was outside of your apartment???? - seafox

Nikki, how lovely to see your photos of Paris. I have never been in Winter. It is very interesting to see sights with which I am familiar with snow on them.

My children have all been in Winter and tell me it I must see it - a totally different 'vibe'.

I particularly love the photo down the staircase. So clever and the one of the man on the steps with the dog is just gorgeous.

I am now printing out your trip report while I go get ready for bed. It will be a great bedtime read! I was up to the second part and decided I wanted to read it with a cuppa.

Thanks again for sharing.

Oh yes, the wine bottles - made me chuckle aloud!

Nikki, thanks for sharing your fantastic Paris photos. I took a short trip in summer and stayed in the same area so it was amazing to see the Latin Quarter covered in snow. I visited Paris in Feb. 2004, but I didn't get any snowfall unfortnately.

Nikki: I enjoyed your pictures. The snow really adds another dimension. Seafox, I will also be in Paris in November. Can't wait.

Nikki, I tried to read this to settle down to sleep. Instead it has woken me up!! What a great report and so well communicated. You sound like a fun girl.

I love your description of your husband's betting adventure in Paris!

I made many notes for my next trip.
(Not about the betting!!)

Once again thanks, and now my printer is labouring away printing out 19 pages of the next trip!

Ah yes, the wine bottles. Not related in any way to the next picture in the sequence.

Seafox, have you rented another apartment for your November trip?

Seafox and gomiki, are you going to the Cambridge GTG in October? Not sure whether I am free, but if so I will go.

EmBee, judging by your bedtime, you live where day is night and summer is winter. The man on the church steps with the dog is actually a funny story. I was taking his picture with my usual clunky candid technique and he turned and said, "I saw that!" Turns out he's from Seattle. The dog too. But living in Paris.

Francophile, I love that area and we're going back to stay in the same neighborhood in February again. Not particularly hoping for more snow though.

Nikki, the Latin Quarter area that's behind the Pantheon I really like. There are lots of photo opportunities (well, the whole of Paris is like that too I guess) as the streets are so picturesque. I stayed a few blocks away in summertime on rue de l' Abbe de l' Epee. I wish you a very nice visit once again next February!

Nikki, I am planning on going to the GTG. I hope to see you there. BTW I also loved your trip report. I had read it when it was first posted and really enjoy your writing style.

Hi Nikki,

Yes, I am on the side of the world where day is night, etc...

Consequently it is lunchtime and I just have to tell you how much I enjoyed my bedtime read last night.

I look forward to your next trip so I can read the trip report. Great fun.

Thoroughly enjoyed all the photos as well. Brings back lovely memories.

Nikki, I love your pix! I only wish some of the photos had captions so I could know where they are. Especially the one of the fountain in the square - beautiful. Was one of the photos of St-Gervais-St-Protais church? That one was so pretty, too. How nice that you got to see snow in Paris - such a rare sight even for Parisians.

Ahh, Nikki,
I am partial to that photo of the man and his poodle

Love the photos. Paris is wonderful, even in the cold.

Thank you for all the nice comments.

Beatchick, Your wish is my command. I have added captions. I'm not sure about the church, but the fountain is at Place de la Contrescarpe.

EmBee, be careful what you wish for. I have just posted the photos and link to my trip report from my trip to Greece in March. I think that's the longest report of the three.

Nikki, the church appears to be St. Etienne du Mont. I took a couple of photos of this church and it looks like the one in your photo.

Thanks Francophile, that makes sense since I appear to have taken 90% of my shots within a three block radius.

Nikki,

Wow, that shows you how long it's been since I've been to Paris - I don't even recognize some of the places I've been to & taken photos of! But your photos are just marvelous and thank you so much for adding the captions.

Now I know what Paris will look like in February! It'll be great to meet you at Le Train Bleu!!

ciao chica,
Mary

Hi Nikki, also on my walk I past The Bombardier as one can't miss it as it's located on a corner. Your photo captured it well. Another photo that I liked alot is the one of the man and his dog sitting on the steps.

Thanks for the pics Nikki--very enjoyable and loved all your bike pics. Also, we are back from Greece and were able to benefit from some of your suggestions there--hope to post with pics soon.

Take care,
Robyn France
