Paris in Early September (1st week)

Hi

I've only been to Paris once, and then the trip was very brief. However; I will be going back the week of my birthday (starting Sept 4, 2012) and would like to know if it would be OK to wear a white dress to dinner?

Hopefully this post doesn't seem too silly, but I really really would like to know if I'd look out of place BEFORE I splurge on this dress that I saw.

Also, can anyone give me an estimated outlook on what the weather would be looking like around this time? (My first time there...was in the month of February...so it was pretty cold)

any advice would be appreciated...

thanks

I'll comment on the weather as we are heading back to Paris for the 9th time in Sept. I've had many wonderful birthdays in this gorgeous city.

We've had everything from:

Cold---bought a few heavier scarfs to wrap around my light jacket. Went south and encountered floods. 2002

Rain---somewhat cool, but we love Paris in the rain, especially at night. Long sleeves, but not heavy sweaters.

Hot, hot--Sept.'11. Last year, the night before we left I took out all of my sweaters, jackets, etc. and added many short sleeve shirts. I'd say it was in the 80's during the day and 70's at night, very warm indeed.

Most years the weather was pleasant & sunny during the day(short sleeves at midday) and mild(light sweater or jacket) at night. With one or two nights having light rain.

So, IMO check the weather right before you leave and alter your packing accordingly. We certainly hope to have a repeat of last year's weather on our upcoming trip.

BTW, happy birthday. Aren't we lucky to spend our birthday's in France!

Wear what you want to wear. Parisians generally wear different shades of black. Go to the South of France and it's different shades of white. When it's hot however, anything goes.

Paris is generally warmest in early September, but as stated in the prior post, it changes from year to year. I would always bring an umbrella. If you don't, it sill surely rain!

Of course you may wear a white dress. I might skip the Metro in a white dress, but there is no reason not to wear white dress to dinner. (Unless you are like me and certain to splash red wine on it!)

No problem: it's going to be hot, cold, sunny, rainy and windy.

Have you entered average temperatures in Paris? I am sure there is eveything you would want to know.

I don't think a white dress would be a problem in Paris in September. I have heard the fasion police take September for their holiday.

YOu can find historical avg temps for lots of places online on various websites like www.weather.com I think it would be more accurate than asking for anecdotal information. If you go to www.weather.com and put in Paris as the location, and then select "monthly" on the left, it gives you detailed daily stats.
