We will be in Paris for a short period of time, 3 days. Here is what I have pulled together and was hoping for some advice or tips! Travelling with my wife & son(13 yrs old).

Day 1 : 30th sept, Tuesday (arrive from London …Start trip around 12:30 pm)
- Rodin
- Orsay …coffee at Cafe Campana at Musee d'Orsay
…..Evening Eiffel Tower, Seine River Cruise and Paris Illuminations Night Tour

Day 2 : 01st Oct. Wednesday
- Louvre Museum ( early morning start)
- Champ Elseeys & Arc de Tromphe
- Galeries lafayett
- OR
- Rue Des Martyrs/ Montmartre (not sure about safety after going thru reviews)

…..Evening Moulin Rouge/lido

Day 3 : 02nd Oct. Thursday ( early morning start)
- Notre Dame
- St. Chapelle
- Latin Quarters
- Luxemburg Gardens/ Le Champ de Mars

I think you are trying to fit in way too much on your first evening - you won't have time to do an evening rivercruise, AND visit the Eiffel tower and do a bus tour as well. And when would you have dinner (don;t consider eating on the boat, very expensive and the food is not good).

Also do not get Moulin Rouge - esp with a 13 year old. I mean this is practically vaudeville, although only semi-clothed. Think a 13 year old would be totally bored. Again, don;t consider eating there - food poor and very expensive. (I always think this if for senior citizens - as the similar shows in Las Vegas - who miss Ed Sullivan.)

Agree with nytraveler; your day 1 evening is far too crowded. Eliminate the bus tour - the Seine River cruise will show you Paris illuminated. Take the cruise around sunset.

I, too, would skip the Moulin Rouge. We went on my first trip to Paris when I was in college. It was sparkly and bright for about 5
minutes then got boring. We left as soon as we finished our drink.

I would go with your first option on day 2. The Champs Elysee is jist a big, wide commercial street so don't plan to spend a lot of time there.

What have you read that has you concerned about safety in Montmartre or the rue des Martyrs? I have not heard or seen anything that would give me pause.

agree Day 1, we can elimanate the bus tour, do the river cruise at sunset followed by Eiffel tower(skip the line-viator)or reverse
Also having second thoughts about going up the Eiffel tower -reviews say too crowded. can enjoy the towers from Champ de Mars with some good wine! - your recommendations on this please.

Day 2: Moulin Rouge,planning for me & my wife ... can be given a miss
Idealy would love to do
- Louvre Museum ( early morning start)
- Rue Des Martyrs/ Montmartre but reviews about petition and friendship band scams cause a scare -pl suggest
- evening around Galleries lafayett

recommend some high point(thursday evening) to end our Paris tour- street food markets/ music ... or some good evening hang out where we can go along with our son

Street markets in Paris usually take place in the morning, not in the evening.

If you enjoy classical music, there are frequently concerts in the evening at Sainte Chapelle.

your take on going up the Eiffel Tower & Montmartre

You're schedule is pretty packed in a few days, but my daughter (last time we there she was 13) loved going up the Eiffel Tower. It can be crowded but IMHO worth it if the kid enjoys it. I wouldn't worry about petition/friendship bracelet scams, just ignore them. My daughter also loves a few hours in Jardin de Tuileries, where there are some carnival rides (ferris wheel, etc). Not sure of the schedule in Sep but in early summer it was open pretty late. I find travelling with a young teenager much more enjoyable if there are a few activities just for them, especially something outdoors where they can just play for a bit.
