Paris Hotel Suggestions

Hi everyone,

I know this has been asked a million times, but I am helping a friend plan their June vacation to Paris and we are looking for some suggestions regarding hotels in Paris that can accomodate 4ppl in 1 room and are approximately 200-200$CAD per night. I have been doing my research and came across a few places:
Hotel de Londres et D'Anvers
Hotel Migny Opera Montmartre
Best Western Le St. Maurice
Les Jardins Du Marais
Hotel Riviera
Le Patio St Antoine
Hotel aux 3 Portes
Now, I know the locations on these hotels vary quite a bit, which is fine because my friend is not picky at all regarding location so long as it is in a safe neighbourhood. If there are any of you who have any suggestions or know anything about the hotels that I came across I would really appreciate it. It's slightly more difficult to find places that accomodate 4 people for that price so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks very much!!

Layla

If she is spending the whole week there and they are 4 people, then I think she should look at renting an apartment.

Our family of four was comfortable in a quad room at Hotel de la Bourdonnais, in the 7th arrondisement. It had two double beds, a little entry way with two big closets. Also a pretty little desk and dresser. Not too small, with plenty of room to walk around the room.
Best of all, we had a view of the Eiffel Tower from our little balcony. I think it was room 503. We paid $225/night USD in June 2005, through Expedia. It is a nice enough hotel, in a great area if you like more quiet and upscale. Our view was up the tree-lined boulevard Bourdonnais, and it was lovely. Very clean and well-kept. Bathroom could use updating, but not too bad. At least we had a shower/tub with a curtain! There's a little market next door, an ATM around the corner, and metro stops very close by, too. You can walk across the boulevard into the Champs de Mars, then up to the Eiffel Tower or the other direction to Les Invalides. Very nice location.

Hi,

A trip to Paris is always a wonderful thing. There are many many cheap hotels to be had and looking at your list I dont know that they are all what i would really call budget. Have a look at the ones on this page

http://www.hotels-paris-france-hotels.com/top20/

All have reviews from people who have actually stayed there thus ... you will know what to expect.

The Hotel Muguet in the 7th has quad rooms but their website has not been updated with their new fabrics and furnishings. They are lovely. The rooms that end in the #1----21,31,41,51,61 are the quads. It is in a very good location for transportation and affordable restaurants and not far from the Avenue Saxe market which is on Thurs and Sat mornings. I'm not sure how much they are CAD but you could check their website and do the math. Have a great stay wherever you choose.

Layla - I'm with Lyban's suggestion of an apartment.
My three friends stayed in a room together and were tripping over each other all the time.
If you want to stay friends throughout your trip you need SPACE - apartments are sometimes far cheaper!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions....up until it was mentioned the idea of renting an apartment hadn't crossed my mind, but that's a great idea. I will definitely suggest that!
Thanks again!

FYI, many apartments aren't available for stays shorter than a week.

If these are 4 adults or at least older teens, then you could really use 2 twin rooms so you also get 2 bathrooms. Here are some inexpensive hotels that might work:
(200CAD = 139&euro

Hotel Sainte Marie - Twin 58€
6 Rue de la Ville Neuve 75002

Lux Hotel Picpus - Twin 48-57€
74, boulevard de Picpus 75012

200 CAD is only about 140 euro. That is really cheap for a quad hotel room in Paris in a decent area. YOu will have to be out of center, probably. I think the Muguet would have been a good idea, but they say a triple is 160 euro.

I do know a decent 2* budget hotel even below that rate level down near Parc Montsouris in the 14th arr, which is a lovely area down near the park. It's only a couple blocks from the RER Cite Universitaire RER stop, and a bus stop, also. That is the Hotel du Parc Montsouris, and they even give you two connecting doubles (they call it a suite, or appartement on their French page) for only 98 euro:

I think an apartment is a possibility, just beware of the extra payments and things you'll have to do in comparison to a hotel (ie, prepayment, security, etc.). When you say four people, it sounds like four adults (I know some others that might if two were small children), and that is going to be tough. I suggest you might do better in just looking for two budget double rooms, if that is the case. YOu will find a lot more choices, even at that budget (ie, much more for 70 euro a double than 140 euro a quad).

the 2* Hotel de Turenne in the 7th is in your price range, but I don't know if they'll put an extra bed in that triple (prob not).

www.france-hotel-guide.com and www.eurocheapo.com are good places to search for cheap hotels.

I don't know anything about the ones you named or where they are.
