Paris hotel rec for work *and* play

My brother is going to Paris on business in March, and if all goes well, I'll get to tag along. He'll be working a "normal" work week, fitting in sightseeing as he can, but I'd be playing tourist the whole time I'm there. So we're looking for a hotel that's convenient for both getting to the business he'll be working with and getting around "touristy" Paris. I'm doing some searching, of course, but since these are specific requests, I thought the Fodors experts would know of something! We've both been to Paris before, but for quick trips as college students ~10 years ago. So this is basically new territory.

The business is on Boulevard Iles, 92130 Issy-les-Moulineaux. Google Maps indicates that it's between a Metro stop (Marcel Sembat, on the M9 line) and an RER C stop (Issy). I'm assuming he'll be fine walking from either one to the island.

We're looking for something around $300-$350/night for a twin room with wifi. That doesn't quite max out his per diem, so there's a little flexibility, but he's a brand new employee and saving a little money might be a good thing! Top priority in terms of location is obviously something near either the business or a Metro stop convenient to it; secondarily, somewhere walkable (we hope!) or at least easily metro-able to main tourist attractions. It would be great if it were in a neighborhood that is older and had cafes, restaurants, some history to it. One of his coworkers stays in the Marriott Rive Gauche when he's there, but the neighborhood doesn't look that exciting on Google Street View or all that convenient.
