Annesherrod and I will be in Paris the first week of October 2012 and we'd love to see both the Paris local Fodorites and other Fodor Forum members who will be traveling to Paris that week. Just thought I'd kick off a thread in case anyone else is beginning to make plans for Paris next fall.

If you're on Facebook I've started an "Event" so that we can keep track of the details as we plan.

We are at about 10 for our Fall 2012 GTG. A number of us will be in Paris Sept 29-Oct 6. The actual GTG date has yet to be determined but a guess at this point is Tues Oct 2. All are welcome!
Ann Marie
Oh, boy! Allyou gals and guys, and Ted Gale too? That could be irresistable. I'm seriously considering a return to Paris for my first ever GTG! Thanks for the heads up!
Wow, what a coincidence, I might actually be in Paris some time during the first week of October but not sure right now whether I'll be there on the 2nd. It's too early to know right now. All I know is that I have to be in Reims during the second week. Fingers crossed, and I'll follow the posting as details develop. Thanks for the advance notice.
We'll keep it in mind as we plan Paris and the Dordogne for the end of Sept into Oct.
We will likely have a little evening meet and greet/wine and cheese party on Sun Sept.30 or Mon Oct 1 as well.
Ann Marie
Topping
I'll be in Paris that first week of October, and would love to come to a GTG. The meet and greet sounds great too.
Sandy
Thats great Sandy!! We will be psoting more details as the date gets closer.
There are currently about sixteen of us who have already committed to attend from the US, Canada and UK. There are several more people who are strong possibilities to join us.
We invite all "Fodorites" to join us and hope that some of the Paris locals will join the festivities as well. Please check out the info on our Facebook event page link listed in the OP.
In addition to a couple of GTGs on Oct 1 & 2, we will likely visit Reims by train on Oct 3 to sample some bubbly and see the Cathedral. We will also likely do an evening Fat Tire Bike Tour of Paris on Sept 30 or Oct 4.
Ann Marie
Hi, I would very much like to attend the GTG (October 2?), wherever it may be. Checked Facebook, but didn't find my name.
Thanks,
Sandy
What does GTG stand for?
GTG= get together
sandyh- No formal invititaion necessary. Everyone is invited to attend. Those Fodorites who know each other on Facebook and from the 2010 Santa Fe GTG tried to spread the word as best as possible by sending an event invite to all of their other Fodor friends on Facebook. You are welcome to post a message on the Event page so I can then add you to the list of people as a way to stay informed. We would love to have you!
Ann Marie
Has anyone found decent air fares to Paris from New England in October this year? rates seem to have gone "sky high"
Prices are crazy. Some of the people coming from California and Arizona found sub $800 fares while those of us farther east were still seeing fares between $900-1200. Atlanta fares were still running as much as $1800 for the GTG week. I am flying roundtrip Indianapolis-London for $733 on Air Canada then taking the Eurostar to Paris. I'm going to stay in London before the GTG and probably Windsor afterward.
Ann Marie
Amwosu: thanks for the definition. I don't why i didn't see that!
Sounds like fun, but we will be in Paris in mid September.
Amwosu, thanks; I guess it makes sense that only those on Facebook would be listed. Myself, I have a very limited presence there, so I'll just try to stay updated via Fodors and checking the Facebook page periodically.
Sandy
Seafox:
We bought tickets on AA Bos-CDG for $770.00 this month for last in Sept and first in Oct. Also available on BA and Iberia thru AA.
Would also be interested in GTG, but not sure of itinerary yet.

I would love to be included, but I'm not on facebook. Any way to stay in the loop without succumbing?
igloohands@msn.com
I'll be in Paris then as well and would enjoy meeting folks. I don't do Facebook either, so would appreciate relevant info being posted here as well. I'll be attending the Leonard Cohen concert on the 29th at the Olympia theater...anyone else going?
It is Sept 29- Oct 6.
People are finding their own hotel/apartment.
There are some functions/destinations planned. We will post back here with particulars.
NO need to be on Facebook to join!
Awesome! The Bike Tour sounds amazing. I will probably arrive 9/30 - hope i don't miss it. Thanks for organizing an adventure!
Eva
We are at approx 21 attendees including significant others. If you are not philosophically opposed to Facebook, consider establishing a facebook presence even if just using your Fodor moniker. Then click https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/306397252710969/ and check in with us there. If you do not want to join Facebook but plan to be at the GTG, email me at amwosu@aol.com and please include "Paris GTG" as the subject.
The following info is the current info on the Facebook Event Page. Please realize that the itinerary is subject to change and not everyone will be together each day. I do believe that the Oct 1 Wine and Cheese GTG and the Oct 2 Dinner GTG are fixed dates. We have not determined locations for those evenings yet as we are waiting until a little closer to the date to establish correct numbers of attendees.
Ann Marie

Ooh, this looks interesting.....Gotta check my work calendar tomorrow.
Darn! We leave Paris on Sept. 25th. Oh well, I'll just have to read all the trip reports to hear about all the fun.
We too will just miss the GTG activities as we leave Paris on the 29th. Too bad, sounds like fun.
I'll be in Paris for the Biennale, but I'm leaving on 9/27. Sorry to miss you all.
Topping - the date is approaching, but you all still have time to get yourself a flight and hotel!!!
I'll have to pass on the GTG unfortunately as it now appears that I won't be in Paris (and Reims) until the 18th. Sorry to miss it, but am planning to meet other Fodorites who will be in Paris mid-month.
However I noticed on the FB event page that suggestions have been made to take meals at Cafe du Palais and Les Crayeres, both in Reims.
Last October, we lunched three times at C du P, and had an exquisite dinner at Les Crayeres. I would highly recommend both restaurants for lunch and dinner respectively. I have many photos of the food and ambience/decor at both restaurants and will try to figure a way to share them.
C du P has very good traditional French bistro fare in a colourful (and tastefully cluttered) space, and is good value of money. Favourite desserts there were a trio of mini puddings, made using the famous Reims Rose pink cookies in three different ways, and one of the best 'Baba au Rhum' I've eaten: large, light and airy, not too sweet, and soaked in fragrant rum syrup, served with Chantilly. Perfect with a coffee and chocolate covered almond to end a meal.
Dinner at Les Crayeres is quite an experience. The food is delicious and beautifully plated and served with pomp and flourish (gloved waitstaff arriving in procession, delivering the entree enclosed in a polished silver dome, one staff member per diner, and then simultaneously lifting off the silver domes for everyone at table; wine decanted at a desk in the room with a lit candle and various long necked decanters depending on the wine, etc.) It is very much an example of 'Haute Cuisine et les Arts de Table' which the French do best. The wine pairings are excellent too. We had a Chateau Margaux 2001 and a Chateau D'Yquem 1996. It's a lovely place and though pricey, worth the experience.
Mathieu - Thank you so much for the information - very helpful. I think we will have time for one. I assume a reservation needs to be made at both.
Sorry we will miss you there!
Mathieu, I will be in Paris the last 2 weeks of October and would be interested in your GTG. My email is same name at gmail dot com. Thanks! Deb
Just found this thread.
I arrive on 5th October - have I missed everything?
You're welcome Anne, and Deb I'll get in touch nearer the time.
Mathieu, I'm assuming that reservations are not required for lunch at Café du Palais?
We arrive on October 10th ...please post if there is a later GTG.....we'd love to be there.
Theflock, we didn't make reservations but were there early enough two of the times, and had to wait for a table the third time, passing the time at the tables outside under the awning with a drink. I'd make reservations just in case, and certainly if you're more than a party of 4.
Don't know why I didn't see this thread long ago, but we will be in Paris October 1st to the 16th, so should be able to attend at least some of the get-togethers. As we will not arrive until the afternoon of the 1st from Seattle, we will probably be too zonked to do much that day, and perhaps the next. We will be going off for a day or two to Besancon just to get away to a smaller French town, but we will follow this thread, as well as the Facebook page to see where we might be able to fit in with your planned activities.
Put Nukesafe and DW as a definite "maybe".
Thanks, Mathieu. If a number of us plan to eat there, I'll either give them a call from Paris or just stop by and reserve in person if we arrive early enough in Reims. Sitting outside with a drink doesn't sound like a big inconvenience, though.
nukesafe - great! We would love to see you.
Nukesafe, please email me at amwosu at aol dot com so I can keep you posted on the GTG. Will need to have a head count for the dinner evening GTG. Put Paris gtg in subject area so I know it's a legit email and not spam.
Ann Marie
Will do, amwosu.
I've sent email or FB messages to all who've expressed interest in attending some of the Paris GTG events. Please email me at amwosu at aol dot com if you have not yet reached out to me or if you don't receive an email from me. Time to get an accurate head count.
Ann Marie
We now have 34 people who plan to be at either one or both of our GTGs in Paris. If you plan to join us, please email me at amwosu at aol dot com so I can keep you updated.
Ann Marie
What a great cast. I wish I could be there.
Let me clarify, if you have not already done so, email me...
Ann Marie
I cannot seem to access the FB page but wanted to say that I have gone from a maybe to NO. My daughter is coming home from the UK before she leaves for 5 weeks of work in Antarctica so I will not be flying to Paris because of her being home-have a fun time all!
dutyfree, I don't think I know your IRL name to take you off of the "Maybe" list. Can you please email me that info so I can remove you from the list?
Ann Marie
so jealous!
