Paris Gare de Lyon Trains
My daughter and her friend are going from Paris to Marsaille Oct 16. They want to leave from Gare de Lyon There seem to be so many different trains in Paris, and prices. We have seen from over $100E down to $60E. Has anyone taken a train to Marsaille and have any advice? Thanks

All trains to Marseille leave from Gare de Lyon. there are a number of train stations in Paris, but they serve different routes.
I assume your daughter wants to take a TGV, which is about a 3-hour journey, as opposed to the regular train, which takes about 10 hours. Here's the website for the French rail system.

There aren't different train systems, only SNCF, the French railroad. There may also be different prices based on time of day or day of the week -- some are more expensive or popular runs than others. There will also be different prices from buying directly vs. a broker like Raileurope. That range of prices sounds about right, so if they are all quotes from SNCF, they should balance the prices vs. time of day and time spent on the journey to buy what is most value to them. I have taken a train there, but it's been a few years so I'm not sure the price is that comparable -- I probably paid more like the 60 euro one way, but if those are SNCF prices, they are legitimate.

Thtrains from Paris to Marseilles leave from Gare de Lyon as others have said. These days, it is almost impossible to find a "regular train" going to Marseilles from Paris...so it is a TGV that they'll be on.
There are, in fact, several other railroads in France, but they are all private and your daughter and friend won't run into those out of Paris...using the SNCF site is your best bet..or they can buy tickets at the station or from a local travel agency after they arrive..although buying in advance may save them considerable money.

Hi moozie,
Go to http://www.voyages-sncf.com/
You will find that if you book online in advance, you can get PREM fares as low as 25E each way.
The tickets are not refundable.
