Paris France Navigo pass...update on purchase please
The ever confounding Navigo date of purchase is hard for me to understand.. My daughter took care of the particulars 3 yrs ago.
I am arriving for one month stay and believe this is still the best purchase but please help me : is there still a best time of the week to purchase or can I purchase a full month's pass?
The ones who don't have a pass, will they still need photos, etc to purchase one? Any other bits of help are appreciated!

Firstly, there is the Navigo Découverte card itself which can be purchased at any RER or Métro station. It will cost 5€ and require a 25mm x 30mm photo of yourself and that you write your name on the bottom right hand corner. Agents at the information window or sales window will be glade to assist you in preparing the card.
Secondly is the fare with which the card is loaded. You may load a fare into a Navigo Découverte card, for use in the current month, up to and including the 19th day of the month. Cards loaded with fares on the 20th and later of any given month are not usable until the start of the following month.
The zone 1-2 monthly fare is 70€. However, you may use the zone 1-2 monthly fare to travel anywhere within the RATP network (zones 1-5) on weekends or during school holidays.
Anyone purchasing a new ND card will need a photo as described above. You may have your picture taken at almost any RER or métro station for 5€.

Those passes are not 30 days whenever you want to start, they are for specific calendar months. Same for the week, it isn't your choice of what day it starts.
Of course they need a photo, it's a requirement to get one. Yours has a photo on it doesn't it? If it doesn't, it's illegal and if you are caught, you'll owe a big fine.

Do you read French? If so, all the information is here:
http://www.ratp.fr/fr/ratp/c_21137/f...is-et-semaine/
If not, if your one month stay corresponds to a calendar month, then the monthly Navigo pass would be good. If not, then weekly passes would be necessary. The one month pass may be purchased from the 20th of the preceding month. The weekly pass may be purchased on Friday preceding the week it will be valid (from Monday through Sunday).
You can purchase the pass or recharge your pass at the ticket counter in a Metro station, or in a shop that is authorized to sell RATP tickets. For a list of the shops in each arrondissement, go to this page and choose your arrondissement from the drop down menu:

Yes, a photo is necessary for the pass.
