We are planning on spending Christmas eve through the 27th in Paris. We love this time of year there, and have been to Paris several times, so we know where we want to go. It used to be that we could get really nice hotels at a lower rate during this time, but what I am seeing, checking now, the rates are very high. Any thoughts if they will go down closer to the time? I realize that over New Year's, all rates are high, but I had not experienced high rates over Christmas.
Thanks for the input.
BTW, we are looking at 5* hotels (Plaza Athenee, Le Meurice, Hyatt Vendome, George V, Raffles, etc.).
Paris - Dec. 24 - 27. Any good hotel deals then?

Here is one website that has some promotional offers for Paris, but none (yet) for over Christmas: http://thirdnightfree.blogspot.com/search?q=paris
Each of these hotels is a member of Virtuoso, meaning that if you book through a Virtuoso travel consultant (for instance, the guy who does the blog linked above), you'll pay the same price but receive value-added amenities that include free breakfast daily, upgrades if available, and extra amenities that can include $100 F&B credits or airport transfers. A Virtuoso travel consultant can give you the exact amenities for each hotel you mentioned.
That's about the most expensive time of the year in Paris hotels. I really have never seen lower rates during Christmas holidays, am surprised you ever encountered that. A lot of people go to Paris during the holidays, it's not a low hotel season at all.
Travelhorizons, thanks so much for the link, I will check it out.
Christina - I know, it sounds crazy, but we've been traveling to Europe (Paris, london, Amsterdam, Rome etc.) over the Holidays since 1994 and have always encountered lower rates and better deals at hotels and airfares than during summer months. Also, it has been less crowded. Now, we haven't been in the last 3 years, but... are hoping for a good deal this time again. Paris is so beautiful over the Holidays!
Also, a good deal is relative. I am not expecting to find a room for 200Euro at the George V, but hopefully something a bit better than 750Euro!
I am also checking on FHR through AX. Around summer time they might have better deals for December.
Thanks again.
Park Hyatt Paris Vendome has a Park Queen at 660 EUR, a Park Deluxe King at 780 EUR.
Le Bristol has a Superior at 730 EUR - and the Virtuoso upgrade-at-booking puts you in a Deluxe.
If you would like a high 4*, you might consider the Lancaster or InterContinental Le Grand.
Thanks, I have also looked at the Raffles Royal Monceau. Looks great too! I will check them all out.
