Paris Church Concerts

We will be in Paris in early Feb. and would like to find out if there will be any church concerts at St. Germain/St. Sulpice/St. Chappelle etc while we are there. What is the best way to get this information? thanks

Also, www.whatsonwhen.com

Definitely pick up a copy of Pariscope from any kiosk in the city. I believe the weekly edition comes out on Wednesdays.

One thing to keep in mind: those churches are cold in February at night.

Paris is just awesome, you'll have a wonderful time! I write a weekly blog Passionate About Paris, which I hope will help with your planning: www.thefeaturewriter.wordpress.com.

And keep in mind the classical music concerts at St Julien le Pauvre.

Check out the program ahead of time online, e.g.

http://www.infoconcert.com/salle/egl.../concerts.html

or when in Paris in the weekly guides mentioned above or on the posters on the fence by the gate. In mid March last year I had no trouble buying a ticket at the door on the night.

Here are a few sites with information on upcoming concerts. There may be some special offerings at St.-Sulpice in 2012 in honor of the organ's 150th anniversary.

Please note that I provide the last link for its list of venues and concerts. I have no knowledge of its reliability as a ticket seller.

All of these suggestions look great. In particular, the
concerts at Eglise St. Julien le Pauvre look as though they
will work well with our schedule. Do you know whether advance ticketing is a must or are we likely to be able to get tickets at the door (beginning of February)? Thank you all
very much.

I've always just walked up to door for church concert tickets.

For Sainte Chappelle, I would pre-book. They have a 'candlelit' concert that is nice. Ihey have a price range of tickets, but since the space is small, no real need to buy the most expensive.

Good acoustics in these churches. St Julien le Pauve is one of the oldest churches in Paris, well situated. On olden days, university classes were held in square outside church in latin (thus Latin Quarter)
