Paris: Booking Hotel du Champs de Mar

I was curious how all of you booked a hotel at Hotel du Champs de Mar. I found the web-site, do I just email them directly? or can you recommend a booking type service (like travelocity, etc)?

Thanks!

Get lost traveljill!

Re: Champs de Mars. You can e-mail from the website. I don't know when your trip is but book early as this hotel fills quickly. If you have a problem staying w/your fellow Americans this isn't the place, ( I don't by the way) It is a very affordable and well located place. I have also faxed them and have received a response withing hours.
Good luck!

First ignore the above posting and then e-mail the hotel directly. If you don't receive and answer call them.

Yes, you should email them directly. One thing about this hotel is that it's been popularized mostly by Rick Steves. It's pretty hard to secure a reservation. I found that it took several emails before the staff replied. Then you play this reservation guessing game. I tried requesting a room about 6 months in advance and they said it's too early. I contacted them later on at their suggested time period and they said they were fully booked. It was not worth the bother to me.

I guess traveljill got lost as I didn't see her response. Who knew that asking about hotel booking would be so controversial.

OK, I'll email them; although, I have a feeling it will be booked since we are going in October.

Anyone recommend other hotels? in 7th arrondissement?

If not the 7th (I had read that was a good district for Paris first-timers), what arrondissement would you recommend?

Bonjour

We stayed at the Royal Phare Hotel - http://www.hotel-royalphare-paris.com in the 7th District. Superior double is 79E. Excellent location. Metro and supermarket nearby and round the corner from the Eiffel. The Rue Cler market is close too. The Prince Hotel, around the corner from the Royal Phare, looked good - http://www.hotel-paris-prince.com. This is a bit more expensive though.

Don't pay for the breakfast. Go to the supermarket or bakery and pick up some lovely fresh bread etc. and save heaps.

I'm sure you will love Paris. Have fun.

Au revoir

locolanza -- I can tell you right now you're probably not going to get a room. I tried to book a room at the Hotel de Champ du Mars in April for our trip this September and they were already full.

I'd check with Hotel Muguet and Hotel Leveque. Both are in the 7th, well priced and reasonably comfy.

Failing that, I'd get on Venere.com and check out hotels in the 7th...it provides available hotels by price, so you can book online.

In the future, you'll want to book with the Champ du Mars via FAX. That is the fastest way to get a response from them. If you provide an e-mail they'll send you a confirmation or denial within hours. Keep in mind they're about 8 or 9 hours ahead, depending what end of the USA you're on, so you have to give them a day sometimes if you fax after noon.

Good luck,

Jules

Thanks everyone for their response. I'm looking now for those that are available our dates.

So far it looks like Hotel Prince and Royal Phare Hotel are available. Decisions, decisions...

Now onto figuring out our London hotels.
