Paris at night -- first timer

I am currently planning my first trip to Paris for myself and my mother in early July. We will be in Paris for 7 days after 5 days in London. I am looking for suggestions for things to do in the evenings, especially because it won't get dark until close to 10pm. We're planning on splurging more on lunches and doing evening picnics/more casual dinners (we are staying in an apartment and will have a kitchen). On our first night we plan to take a Vedettes du Pont Neuf cruise, but other than that I have not gotten very far in planning. What are some of your favorites ways to spend your evenings in Paris?

Thank you!

Paris is a big movie town - believe it or not. You can see current major films in the original language (marked VO) in the are of the Grandes Boulevards. There are often film festivals with different themes - with the films shown in the originals. We spent one evening at a lengthy Marx Brothers festival (one of my favorites). There were obviously a lot of locals - since every joke got two laughs - one from the English soundtrack and the other from the French subtitles.

I think that the major opera and ballet seasons are finished in July - but I'm sure there will be a number of concerts/special events you can see advertised.

Another option is to visit some of the local jazz clubs. Sorry I don;t have names - the last time I did this was with a local colleague who selected the venues. But I'm sure a local can provide specifics.

Don't know what your musical interests are but this might be worth checking out: http://www.classictic.com/en/Special...ainte-Chapelle

a nigh boat ride on the Seine can be great - go at dusk so one way you see things in daylight and on the return glorious, sublimely illumminated are all the many bridges and monuments like the Louvre and Notre-Dame lit up.

We really enjoyed grabbing a gelato and walking along the Seine at night. We also went in July when the Paris Plage was on. The city turns two miles of the Seine into beach, complete with sand and lawn chairs. We would stroll along here in the evening and listen to the musicians playing. Some really great memories from Paris. Can't wait to return.

Concerts, sitting at cafés and watching the people go by, wandering around new neighborhoods, jazz and other music clubs... Pick up a copy of Pariscope at any kiosk (it comes out on Wednesdays, I believe) for lists and lists of special events going on. And check out www.whatsonwhen.com.

I attended an evening concert at Notre Dame, and afterwards enjoyed watching the skaters performing tricks on the bridge right outside.
