Trip Report Paris and River Cruise

Jump to last reply

This is a short trip report on our recent trip to Paris and the a 7 day river cruise on the Viking Spirit.

Paris is Paris and we love it. We stayed in the 17th at the beginning because it was an extension from the cruise line. I would not recommend this location as it is to far from everything. At the end if the cruise we took advice from other Favorite's and stayed at the Le Clement which we loved. The location is amazing and even though the room was small we had a king size bed which is rare in Paris. If luxury is not important but nice, friendly, and location are important that this is great. We did all of the typical tourist stuff, museums, Eifel Tower, Seine River Cruise. We walked and walked and wandered the streets. One of the highlights was seeing the Chagall exhibit which left the day after we saw it. If it comes to America it is a must see,

Again on advice from the forum we hired Chantal Biton for a Jewish tour of the Maris District. She was great and was able to take us into the synagogues and the other sites.
We also had dinner at Reed. This was not as great as everyone said. Catherine was very stressed, and did not even have our confirmed reservation on the books. She was alone without any help at all. The food was good but we were a little disappointed.

Once on the boat we went to Giverny, Rouen, and Normandy. Obviously Normandy was so moving and wandering the cemetery pulled at your heart. We met lovely people on the ship, the food was pretty good, the service great and of course we were with wonderful friends which made for a perfect trip.

Thanks all of you for your suggestions,

From Paris we went to Giverney
