Paris - Airport to the central

Hi guys,

Can anyone please advise me which is the best way (public transportation or taxi) from Orly Airport to the central of Paris (Latin Quarter) at 23.00PM. Is it safe at that time? Or should I ask the hotel to pick-up at the airport?

Many thanks in advance.

Oh, by the way, which is the best taxi? How is the price? Should I have to tip & how much? As I have never been to Paris before.

Thanks a lot.

If you ask the hotel to arrange a pick up it is likely to cost way more than a regular cab from the airport.

If your plane lands at 11 pm you won't be on the road until 11:30 or later (possibly much later if you have to go through Immigration and pick up luggage). Not sure if train is still running then - nor Metro - but I wouldn't want to be walking the streets with luggage looking like a tourist in the small hours.

Sorry I can;t help with price of a cab (my company provides car services) - but I'm sure if you search Paris taxi here you can find the info. We always tip with cabs (but 10% as opposed to 20% at home - possibly more if there is a lot of luggage for the driver to deal with)

Taxi from Orly is less that CDG. Yes you tip. You will also be charged 1E or so for each piece of luggage.

Take a taxi at that time of night. Follow the taxi signs in the airport and don't accept any offers from rogue drivers - there is one official taxi line outside. The taxis will all say Taxis Parisiens on top. It will cost about 25-30E. A tip is not mandatory, but if you feel like it, give an extra 5% or so. Make sure your hotel knows you'll be arriving late and will have someone at the desk.

St Cirq is correct. My timing with taxis has always been during peak traffic periods and I have paid as much as 80 EU for 4 people and bags. So, as long as you follow the advice, take a legitimate taxi, the price you get will be fair. Just be prepared with Euros (there are ATMs inside the terminal)

80 euros from Orly? That must've been some traffic!
