Paris 5 stars hotels in 5/6 th district....modern, clean with AC

Dear fodorers,
Can anyone help me finding a hotel in Paris in the 5 or 6 th district?
We are a couple in our 40th with a 3 yrs old baby boy..going there in mid May...
We like new modern clean 4 or 5 stars hotels near the river and cafes around ...AC is needed..We have been to Paris before but we always stayed on champs elysee...this time we want to change and be near luxembourge park...we love to walk....any suggestions please? I started looking on booking.com and read so many reviews that made me more confused!!! Help
Thanks,
Misho

We just booked intercontinental.com "Le Grand" for April
right by the river and Louvre with a Michelin 1 star restaurant
on premises for 35000 Priority points plus 20 euro per night.
Rooms from the 300 euro/nt range usually where we stay for upscale. Crowne Plaza Republique cheaper in Shopping district
ihg.com also for about half that price also good in the past for us. Also Holiday Inn Notre Dame well reviewed located more of a modern 3 star for more budget.

Happy Hunting!

Hi M,

5* are outside my pay grade, however I have been inside these hotels in the 6th and think that they are worth your considering.

www.hotelatlantis-sg.com This is only a 3*, but you might like the Chambre Deluxe.

Enjoy your visit.

What do mean by "5-star hotel"?

Are you referring to the grand hotels of Paris--the Crillon, Ritz, George V, Plaza-Athenee??

The only hotel of this type that I know of in the area near the Luxebourg Gardens is the Hotel Lutetia.

The 5th and 6th are not a 5-star hotel kind of place.

A very nice 4-star hotel within walking distance to the Luxembourg Gardens is L'Abbaye.

I have never stayed at L'Abbaye, but my sister really likes it and she is Very Very POSH!

Good Luck,
Pepper

There aren't any 5* hotels in the 5th, period. A 5 star hotel is now an official designation of the French govt for hotels, so I am going to presume that is what you mean except that your post then says 4 or 5* so I guess your title is irrelevant in terms of what you really want.

Believe me, no 4-5* hotel isn't going to have AC, and I don't know of any 3* hotel in central Paris now that doesn't have it. Although there are no 5* hotels in the Latin Qtr, there are a few 4* hotels (and that is a very few, there are only a couple of them). There was a recent post on them, as I recall, the only 4* hotels in the latin Qtr are the Parc St Severin, Les Rives de Notre Dame and Seven.

Seven Hotel (down at the bottom, probably not where you want to be, although actually, that is a nice neighborhood, away from the hubbub, and it seems the design you like) http://www.sevenhotelparis.com/

Hotel Parc Saint Severin (good location, it was recently upgraded officially, used to be 3*)
http://www.paris-hotel-parcsaintseverin.com/en/

Les Rives de Notre Dame (right on the Seine quay)
http://www.rivesdenotredame.com/

So you will find many more hotels like you want in St Germain.

I had a friend who stayed here and loved it (closer to river than Lux Gardens though):

Questions about hotels in reference to stars only are generally pointless. Those who stay in 5 star hotels usually know where they are as there are not that many of them in Paris (and they are very expensive).

A much better indicator of what you might want is to outline a general budget window in euros per night. This will avoid many unnecessary suggestions that really do not suit your overall objectives. The few 4 star properties in the 5th/6th arrondissements will probably start in the 200€ to 250€ euro range and go up. 3 star hotels, and there are some very nice ones, will probably begin at around 150€ and up for doubles.

These outlines are very subjective but might serve your interests better than simply relying upon a star designation with which to search for hotels.

We love the Madison. If you can afford a front corner room on the boulevard (no, no noise problems) you'd have lots of space in both the bedroom and bathroom. The hotel offers room service only for breakfast, but the breakfast buffer (priced separately) gives you enough food for breakfast AND lunch. The location is terrific, just down the street from the métro and a block away from a Monoprix store--also an ATM.

Here's my hotel thread.

http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ank-thread.cfm

If you jump to the bottom and scroll up, I have listed all of the recommended hotels by district and provided websites.

As for the higher-star hotels, they are mostly on the Right Bank, not the Left Bank.

Happy Travels!

Luxembourg Park isn't right next to the river, but here is a very nice 4* on the north edge of the park:

...and some very nice 4* hotels closer to the river:

I don;t know of any 5* on the left bank. We have stayed at the Lutetia in the 6th which is well located and a true 4* (american rating, not just european) and enjoyed it. the location is quite handy to major sights. For random nights in May a room for 2 adults plus 1 child starts at about 300 euros per night. (True 5* hotels are usually more in the range of 600 euros per night - and all are on the right bank.).

This is a traditional hotel - not modern. There aren't that many modern hotels in paris - and frankly I don;t go to europe for a chain Marriott (which I can;t imagine is really 5* anyway).

There's also Venere. They are a reputable site, shows hotels on a map, has hotel reviews, and slices and dices how many stars you want an where you want.

Here's Paris....

I second bardo1 recommendation of the Aubusson,, very nice location. Smaller boutique type hotel.

I am happy you are trying something away from the Champs,, I think that area is so,, er, not nice..

Thank you all for your recommendations...we have this new idea all of a sudden which is to explore the Loire valley and am looking for hotels there!
Your suggestions and time responding did not go in vein ...not at all...we are still planning and your comments did and still is helping us! We might end up in Paris! Thanks a lot to all of you!
