Paella - Southern Spain or Barcelona

Any suggestions for paella in Southern Spain (Marbella, Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, Seville) or Barcelona?

We made pretty incredible seafood paella at Cook and Taste in Barcelona. I don't think I had eaten 'real' paella before, and the class was fun!

Paella is a dish from Valencia. It looks like you have a car. If you connect Barcelona to Andalucia, you will pass through Valencia.

Various excellent Arroz (rice) dishes in especially Barcelona, but also in Andalucía. Paellas are served mainly in the tourist areas along the coast, and many of them can be perfectly fine. Not much, at least good, paella in inland Andalucía. Don't know Marbella especially, but La Barraca de Ámparao is reputedly the real deal when it comes to Valencian paella as well as great Arroz dishes.

In Barcelona, I highly recommend the seafood Arroz Caldoso at Barcelona classic 7 Portes from 1836: http://www.7portes.com/angles/index.php

In Sevilla, I recommend the arroz/paella tapas at El Cairo in Calle Reyes Católicos, 13 at lunchtime, very popular with locals: http://www.yelp.com/c/sevilla/arroceria_paella

... and a Arroz Caldoso is something between a paella and a chowder/soup with rice. Very Spanish and very different in different regions (as with all things Spanish) and absolutely delicious and highly recommended. https://www.google.no/search?q=Arroz...w=1600&bih=783

One of the best paellas we've had lately was in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, but it was nothing like the delicious paella we had SeuXerea in Valencia (www.seuxerea.com), or what is served on the streets during Las Fallas.

Hello!

I could only recommend paella restaurants in Barcelona, especially two:

Cal Pinxo

Salamanca

Both are in the Barceloneta area!

Look for rice dishes (not paella) in Barcelona. I would look for regional specialties in your other destinations. Not paella.

Kaiku is one among many in Barcelona that prepares good rice dishes. Go there for seafood and rice preparations.

Even tho paella may be indigenous to a specific region of Spain, you will find it thru out the country. Others can debate the authenticity or where to get "the best" but you will find it many places. We have eaten it at Set Portes in Barcleona - if you want to try something that may be a little out of your comfort zone but is absolutely delicious, go for the squid ink paella. Or try one from a place in the Barcelonetta area, always a great place to hang out on a nice day.
