Packing for Sicily and Sardenia: Need anything Warm?

Hello again friends! Heading for three weeks in Sicily and Sardinia and determined to stick to a carry-on. The big question is: do I need anything warm? And if so will a warmish scarf do it (the kind they sell everywhere)? Or do I need a jacket of some kind?

Also not planning to take jeans... too hot. Do you agree?

Just planning on about 3-4 tops and bottoms and a swimsuit, all drip-dry. One dress that can be dressed up or down. (My medicine takes a good bit of space). Straw hat, sun screen and mosquito spray. Comfy shoes and comfy sandals. Maps and tour books (I still need a good one for Sardinia!). Super light scarf for churches. Anything I'm missing?

Thank you in advance!

No, you don't need a jacket. I would need a scarf for the plane but I am sensitive to air con. You can easily but the sunscreen, mosquito spray (and straw hat) in Italy.

If you plan on going to the top of Mt. Etna, then you will definitely need something very warm and also thick-soled shoes.

It depends on when you are traveling to Sicily. It was quite warm last year in late October so I only wore very lightweight clothing.

Next week the weather on Mt Etna will be 80 degrees. I wouldn't pack a jacket for that.

Thank you all very much! I will be there in about two weeks, and I am already in Italy, so yes, buying it here.

THANK YOU for the plane reminder!! But I will be going all over the place before I go on a plane, so perhaps I will just wait and buy something in Rome or Paris at the last minute rather than drag something around with me for three weeks in Sicily and Sardinia (oh darn, wouldn't that be a shame to have to go shopping in Rome or Paris, wink).

I will bring a scarf for the boats tho...

One last question -- I have read in some places that Sicilians are rather modest and to cover shoulders. I have a number of shirts that are the button-down collared shirts but are sleeveless. Perfectly modest, and cover the top of the shoulder, but sleeveless. Does anyone see a problem with that? (I carry a lightweight scarf for churches). (They are from here and thus so much lighter than anything else that I own...)

Again, Thank you very much!

The only place you need to worry about stuff like that is some churches.

I think you'll find most people showing a bit more then a little shoulder

Likely your light scarf can be worn over your shoulders as well as your head when you're in a Church or Cathedral.

Have a wonderful time.
