My daughter will be taking a summer course at Oxford university on June 18 thru July 13.
(She is an English major) Can anyone give her some hints and/or tips on what there is for a student on a budget to do?(i.e. museums, shops, literature tour spots,... ) Also, the school has given us some idea on the cost of meals but nothing else.
How much money should she plan on bringing?
Thanks in advance

Oxford is just about an hour train from London. My son spent the summer at Trinity College, Oxford, and found that he wanted to go into London almost every weekend as Oxford was pretty quiet. One great outing would be to Stratford for a Shakespeare play but that requires an overnight. He ate two meals a day in the dining hall of the college but that third meal was a drain on his budget. Lots of good sandwich places in town. Fortunately, he stayed with relatives when in London on the weekends. I would suggest getting her an ATM card for emergencies. Depending on where you live in the U.S., England will be as expensive or more. It's a great experience though and he will never forget it. Totally different perspective from the U.S. college student's point of view.
