Oxford left luggage

We'll be taking the bus from Heathrow to Oxford the morning of June 8 and plan on spending the day there before training on to Moreton-in-Marsh/Chipping Campden. Is it still the case that the only places to store luggage is at the various hostels in the city? Or is anyone aware of other locations.

Thanks,

I think that is the case.

The hostels make a tidy sum storing folks for day trippers.

Thanks janisj - hopefully they'll just store our bags, and not us!

The YHA hostel in Oxford is almost next door to the train station. There's an email link which I'd use to ask if they'll store your things:

There hasn't been left luggage at the bus station for maybe 25+ years. At least since the bus station was redeveloped in the late 80's. I can't remember if there was left luggage before then but I think there was.

The link I posted above is the YHA site for "Oxford Backpacker's Hostel". It's, I believe, the one closest to the station. So I don't know what to say about it except, again, just email and ask to be sure.

Steves clearly states that the YHA hostel by the station does not store luggage - me I don't know just thought it would be useful to know which one is a pound cheaper for the same service and opening hours.

I just emailed the Botley Rd. location (link above, so disregard). They answered immediately, a very good sign:

"Thank you for your e-mail. We don’t offer luggage space for non- residents however I can recommend to try in Backpackers Hostel tel. 01865721761"

So this is the one that does, on Hythe Bridge St:

Whew!

Good, PQ, you find the other. It's Thursday, I'm going to get Indian take-out at Briar Patch.

Well R. Steve's has never been known to have much expertise on traveling in England and the information in his books ( like others) is not always up to date.

Steves is a big empire - he does not personally write all that but has researchers doing it - the info is as good as in any guide - and the best we've seen here so far.
