I'd like to take the overnight ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki, then back again. Has anyone done this? Could you give me some information as to the pricing of your room, did you get any sleep? and did you enjoy this mode of transportation? How late will the sun shine in that area in mid May? Thank you very much.

The overnight ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki is wonderful and I have taken it 3 times. I have always taken Silja Line which is what my friends in Finland swear by as being the best. The cost is around $60 which is covered by a Eurail pass is you have one of them but this does not include the cost of a room which you would want. That would be extra but I do not remember how much. Silja line has a sight at I believe www.Silja.com but it does not include prices. The sun should be out for quite a while in May and you should be able to enjoy the archipelago before the sun sets. The entry into the Helsinki harbor is quite nice also with the Cathedral standing out prominently on the hill.
What is a Eurail pass and how would i go about getting one if i am going to Sweden?
A Eurail pass allows you to travel by train in most of the European countries. You can buy it for a certain number of days and choose which countries to include. The basic card includes Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland, but you can add Sweden and other countries. Three years ago a 5 day pass cost about $350. Any travel agent should be able to give you information and a number to call if they don't sell the cards.
