I will be arriving in Amsterdam at the Zuid station on a Saturday afternoon. I was thinking of getting the I Amsterdam card, and wanted to pick it up after arriving so I could start using the transportation option when I get on Tram 5 for my hotel. But the GVB station isn't open in Zuid on Saturday, according to the web site. Is there any other place around there to pick this up?
If there isn't any way to get this on arrival, I may just not get it and try to get a multi-day OV chipkaart instead. But is there any place to get that within the station? If not, is my only option to purchase the 1-hour one from the conductor on the tram? And if I do that, do I need exact change, and do I pay the conductor, or put the money in a machine on board? (Every country seems to do things in a different way!)
Thanks!
