Outdoor Adventures in Sicily in late July/early August?

Jump to last reply

I need help with two overall goals for a 10-12 day trip to Sicily this summer: some "outdoor adventures" and some beach time (in addition, of course, to enjoying the culture and ruins). As to the first, my 14 year old daughter has asked for "outdoor adventures", having accompanied us on museum and city tours in prior trips. Trips to Central America have involved zip lining, cave tubing, and hang gliding as well as snorkeling - all activities she loved. Can anyone clue me in as to what might be available on the island that would qualify as adventures? In our prior trip to Sicily we visited Ortigia, Modica, Ragusa and Palermo. As to the second, my husband's ancestral home is Ragusa and he thought it might be nice to spend some time at the beach in Ragusa Marina. Is this a good choice or are there better options in Sicily? We plan to travel in late July/early August, which may be a factor in what is available given the Italian holiday month is August. We stayed in an apartment on one leg of our last trip and that was wonderful. Budget is not a big issue, although I do not typically book extremely high priced luxury accommodations, except sometimes for the last night in country.
