Oslo to Bergen luggage transfer service
I have read that there is a luggage transfer service that will transfer our luggage from Oslo to Bergen so that we can take the train and "Norway in a Nutshell" without having to carry so much stuff. Is there such a service and what is the approximate cost? Is there a website?

Hello rjsol,
You forgot to list the website.
We will have one medium-sized wheeled bag, plus camera stuff, per person. I understand that the Nutshell tour involves a lot of getting on and off transportation. We are "seniors" and I thought this might be a problem. Also, it sounds like it would limit our ability to move around on the cruise and the train. Am I wrong? Someone on this board suggested the idea and I thought I would check it out.

Copied from an old post since we did not use the service. We also took his advice to stop at the Stalheim and loved it. Enjoy your trip.

Colleen: If you go for a roundtrip, an Oslo S locker would be easy for most of your stuff. But you also can express all your luggage from Oslo S to Bergen by the NSB Express Service. At Oslo S locatated some 100 yards southeast of the tracks, officers will guide u. Up to 40 kilogramms, no matter how many pieces, per persons. Must be delivered at least half an hour before departure and by showing ur rail tickets. Luggagage can be picked up at Bergen rail station, or you can order NSB (Norwegian Rail Company) to deliver at your destination hotel for a minor cost. Works fine, and I guess the service is available all days.
To confirm, check www.nsb.no or the express luggage delivery mail [email protected]
Bjorn, Oslo
PS If possible, make an overnight stay at Stalheim hotel, after finishihig the ferry leg, between Gudvangen and Voss. I Highly, highly recommend both the views and the comfort.

Thanks for trying, but the first website was just train info and the second did not work.
I haven't figured out how to do the Nutshell with luggage. Since we plan on having a car when we get to Bergen, perhaps we will skip that part of our journey and see other sights by car, or we could do a round trip when we reach Bergen. We are not going until next summer so I have plenty of time to sort it out.
Our other option is to fly into Bergen which is starting to look really good.
