Orly restaurants
We will be staying at the Hilton at the Orly airport on Christmas day. We would like to go to a nice, romantic, moderately priced restaurant that evening. Any recommendations? Also, do we need reservations? If so, what's the best way to make them? Thanks!!

YOu certainly need reservations as so many places will be closed.
I don't know any special place around Orly, that is mainly burbs as far as I'm concerned (I don't know any quaint villages or towns with special restaurants). Of course the Hilton should have a restaurant so you won't starve. That may be your best bet. Otherwise, you can find somethign in Paris, of course, but I wouldn't be so picky about it being romantic, etc.
The 13th or 14th arrondisements would be closest to Orly if you want to take a taxi. The metro/RER will run that day, just limited. The Avant Gout in the 13th arr. is pretty trendy and populat, mid-priced, but I suspect it won't be open (it's not open Sundays). It's not romantic. Ourcine is another decent bistro in the 13th, but I also bet it might not be open Christmas. It's not a fancy special restaurant. http://www.restaurant-lourcine.fr/
For Montparnasse, I suspect La Coupole will be open, it always is usually. It is not romantic and is a bit overpriced IMO, but it is an institution and food is okay. Le Dome is a pricey seafood restaurant and is open Christmas, I believe, and is probably what I'd call the most "romantic" I can think of on my list of suggestions (but not that much). Depends what your idea of "moderately priced" is, I think of it as expensive (dinner 40-70 euro or so). May be more on CHristmas, don't know. La Regalade in the 14th, not far from Porte d'Orleans is trendy and well-regarded. It is also open CHristmas, I believe. Not romantic.
Le Dome might be your best bet if you don't mind the price. here's a photo (I do use lafourchette to make resto reservations in Paris, it works fine)

YOu can ask your hotel concierge to make reservations, assume Hilton has one. La Fourchette should work, it has for me. Of course if you don't want to go into Paris, I don't know what to suggest other than the Hilton.
Of course it's possible Le Ciel de Paris will be open Christmas. It's a restaurant on top of Montparnasse tower with fantastic views. That's not a bad idea, actually, but I wouldn't call it moderate, either, but it's not super expensive. You'd have to check hours. Unless your flight out of Orly is super SUPER early AM on the 26th, I wouldn't stay there Christmas Day. If you can change your booking, I'd stay in the middle of Paris at a nice hotel and eat at the same hotel -- or somewhere nearby recommended by the hotel's concierge.
Otherwise Christina has given good places to at least <i>start</i> looking. Ciel de Paris has fabulous views -- but it may have been a while since Christina was there. It is on the expensive side. Probably not relevant though, since as she said, I suspect it isn't open on the 25th.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. We actually fly in from London and are supposed to arrive at Orly at 7:45 pm. We were looking for a restaurant that would be close with good French food. Given the time we finally get to our hotel,it might be smarter just to have a light bite there. Thanks again.

7:45 isn't late --You could be checked in at a hotel in central Paris before 9PM. Are you staying in Paris from the 26th on?
Timeout lists several possibilities (and it does say ciel de Paris is open) - but you'd have to check to see how late -- most seem to be open regular hours (i.e. late) . Book as far ahead as possible.
But if you still want to stay at Orly -- just eat at the hotel (you'll likely have to pre-book)

If you aren't even arriving until 7:45 pm, I'd probably just eat in the hotel and save the big dinner experience for some other time when you could enjoy it more, presuming this is just a stop in transit to somewhere else (otherwise, I'm sure you wouldn't just stay at an Orly hotel). I stayed at the Hilton once at CDG, which was very nice, and the food wasn't half bad. it wasn't some special experience, of course, but it was fine.
The problem with booking a restaurant is that there is always the possibility your flight will be late. I've had flights just from London to Paris that were delayed a couple hours. And I would never assume that if my flight were scheduled to land at 7:45 pm that I would be checked into my hotel before 9 pm in central Paris. If it is right on time, maybe around 9 pm, I wouldn't presume before then. But I suspect that is moot and you aren't staying in Paris for a while.

Christina, I agree with you. We are actually flying from Prague via London to Paris.We thought it would be convenient to stay at the Orly Hilton one night before heading to an apartment in the Marais. (If you know of any special restaurants in this area, please share.)
