Hi All,
Thank you much for your help before, I decided to start a new topic about where to go if anywhere between Nice and Paris. I am going in a 3 week trip between France and Italy from aug 1 to aug 22 and this was my planned itinerary.
Rome 5d
train to Florence 3d
train to Venice 3d
plane to Nice 2d
train to lyon 2d
train to paris 6d.
My question is, by being in Paris, I don't think I need to see Lyon, what other beautiful city between Nice and Paris would you guys recommend for a day, or half a day? I would maybe like to see a different city than Paris or Nice, maybe countryside?
Thanks,
Daniel

6 Weeks Traveling Around: Italy, Austria, Budapest, Paris

Annecy, Beaune, Dijon are some of the options.
You could visit a town or city in Provence such as Avignon or St. Remy or go to Beaune or Dijon in Burgundy. We visited both areas on one trip to France when we started in Paris and ended in Nice.
Do you think one day is enough for either of those places? So the options are Avignon, St Remy, Dijon, Beaune or Annecy. Any preferences? what are the main differences?
Also, HappyTrvlr, did you do both of those in a day?
Thanks,
Daniel
Beaune can definitely be seen in one day. Best to plan on being there market day.

Highly recommend if you chose Beaune to visit the Marche aux Vins and do their tasing in the cellars - highlight of our trips: http://www.marcheauxvins.com/vin-beaune-tourisme/en/visit-wine-tasting.html
What's wrong with Lyon? It's by far my favorite city between Nice and Paris (though just a day there would be a pity).
What's wrong with Lyon?
Nothing, but within the framework of this trip, wouldn't just one day spent in a city be better spent in a smaller one?
I agree - haven't been following the workings of this trip closely. That's why I said a single day would be a shame. Beaune would be a better choice for a day, agreed.
We spent a week in Beaune and in Provence, outside of Avignon. You certainly could "see" them in a day if you wished.
So seems like the consesus i Beaune! Do you guys think 2 days is enough for Nice (I know once I see it i would like to stay there for weeks but...)
Also, any other critiques on my itinerary?
