Opinions: Solo travel Almalfi Coastt
Which town along Amalfi Coast best for solo female with interests in walking to town & restaurants, perhaps some sun & swimming, relaxing & taking in the ambviance.
No need for nightlife etc. Do want to feel comfortable as a solo.

The Amalfi Coast is like a theme park, a Disneyland. A tourist-resort. People are out strolling at all hours. There isn't anything that is unsafe. Most crime (and there is very little) is about nicking valuables in hotels from people who leave their terrazzo doors unlocked, etc. Maybe pickpocketing on buses.
Stay wherever you think you'll enjoy yourself among the 50th anniversary couples, honeymooners, and tour groups.
If you want to swim in the Med, don't stay in Ravello.
About the only caution I would make is not to go off wandering far on isolated rural hillside trails by yourself. Even then, I'm being overprotective.
Have a great trip!

Sorrento is a regular town with locals mixed into the tourist tribes. If you go on shoulder seasons you will find it is a pleasant place to stay and perfectly safe for a solo female.
Praiano is nice and mostly a local town but not much to do at all. If you stay at Onda Verde you will have the sea right at hand but you would have to take the bus to get around.
Positano is lively, mostly tourist during the season, and has a lot for a single person to do and see and a good bus system. Amalfi is a local town as well as a tourist town and also is nice for a single person.
At one time or another I and many women I know have stayed in all of these towns as a single traveler, felt perfectly safe and had the times of our lives.

I recently spent 5 nights in Sorrento and visited Positano, Amalfi & Ravello. I can't imagine being uncomfortable in any of those places. I wouldn't stay in Ravello, because it's more remote and would take longer to get anywhere. I've never felt uncomfortable traveling solo anywhere in Italy, including, in addition to the Amalfi Coast, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Tuscan towns, and Rome.

fooiern,
Like many other ladies, I also went solo on my last trip to Italy. No problems at all. I used a combo of the trains, SITA buses and boats to visit Amalfi, Ravello and Paestum, then went on by boat to Capri for a couple nights, then aliscafi to Sorrento, Pompeii, Naples. I even did the Naples metro and thought it was just fine.
I chose to stay in Praiano because I prefer a non-resort area. Praiano is really a locals town although there are a few hotels and restaurants. Not any shopping to speak of. Praiano also doesn't have boat transportation options like Positano and Amalfi do.
From what you say, Positano sounds like what you would enjoy. There are beaches there, and Praiano only has a small, rocky cove that is about 400 steps down (and up).
Buon viaggio!

Hi F,
I can highly recommend www.lesirene.com.
Ask for a balcony.
We had room 12, but it might be large for a single traveler.
