Opinions needed: accommodation in Galway Westport and Londonderry

Jump to last reply

Right folks, having decided on a rough itinerary of Northern Ireland Ive begun to look at accommodation..wont book anything as yet but need to have some idea at this stage.
Galway will most likely be our last destination/overnight before we head back to dublin for the weekend and our flight to Paris Sunday evening.

There are three of us-husband and daughter (20)..we'd like a triple room wherever possible just to save on costs a bit. So far leaning towards B and Bs.
Looked at Marless House which is on the end of the promenade and is an easy walk to town ( Galway). How much of a pleasant walk it will be depends on how ferocious the winter nights will be ...but we do have a car ...im wondering if Galway has easy parking?
Any opinions about this B and B?

Havent read anything about Westport here on Fodors as far as accommodation is concerned. Ive noted that Boulevard Guesthouse gets good reviews. Wed like to be close to a city centre in each case so we can pop into town with ease at night. Maybe im kidding myself and we wont be doing any such thing - walking that is...so if youve had experience of winter in Ireland please knock that idea out of my head lol

Londonderry: dont know yet whether we will stay there or around Ballycastles..have been encouraged to get to Londonderry for the night by tourism board but it depends on daylight...Ive noted Kenmara House in Ballycastle

Im working backwards here...Im thinking we will head north from Dublin not west to Galway unless someone suggests otherwise...I think we can have that quick departure from Galway up our sleeves and head back along that motorway on the last day rather than trying to come down from Giants Causeway..dont know

I know most people tend to go to the southwest and thats where Id prefer to be ( and i am foregoing the Tommy Flemming concert....that is hard for me to say and it will be even harder for him to realise that I never did make it that night...any Tommy fans out there? just LISTEN to that man sing!)

Im at the ready now to note any suggestions
thank you!
