Opening of Parliament

I've read the posts and it looks like something our family would like to see. (As my son quipped, A US president never comes where we can see him, so we might as well check out the Queen.)

One thing I haven't found out, What time does the procession start and how long does it take? Is it better to watch it closer to Westminster? It's also the day I'd tentatively thought to watch the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace. Anything else we should know?

Many thanks to the persons who suggested going to the UK Army website. It has a really nice description of the ceremony. I appreciate the information very much.
