Only Took One Year! Maitaitoms's Central European Blog Now In Living Color

http://travelswithmaitaitom.typepad.com/travels/

Beautiful Photos! Added Information remembered when not under the influence of Slivivitz. Many spelling and grammar errors corrected (probably not all, unfortunately)

Join Tracy, Kim, Mary and yours truly on our month long adventure in:

Prague, Kutna Hora, Sedlec (dem Bones), Cesky Krumlov, Olomouc, Krakow, Vienna, Dubrovnik (Buza Bar pictures viewed at your own risk of quitting work and going there tomorrow), Montenegro (oh wait, scratch that country that wouldn't less us in), Trogir, Split, Plitvice (pictures cannot do justice to its beauty), Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Vintgar Gorge, Mr. Ed Lipica Stud Farm, Rovinj, Motovun and Venice.

It takes a minute to load. WARNING: On most of the pictures you can click on them and the blog will remain in background when you exit the photo. On a few, the photo pops up and the blog disappears. If that happens just hit your backspace before you dump photo, and the blog magically appears where you left off.

I hope you enjoy seeing many of these places, and I also hope it makes those who have never visited these countries an added reason to travel there. Grab a bottle of Slivovitz and enjoy!

Tom and Tracy....in Hollywood lingo..spectacular, colossal,
boffo,ad nauseam. Most seriously, you guys sure know how to weave a story, a pictorial one at that. Having been to each of those locations, I found that you managed to add exciting new dimensions to every one. Compelling reading from beginning to end.

To see everything through your eyes and magnificent sense of humor makes the memories that more vivid!

As to the joyous compatibiity you've had with Kim and Mary, Roz and I traveled with two of our dear friends for several of our overseas ventures over the years (Roz's Berkeley roomate and her husband, Milt). Our camararderie was also something equally pleasurable., and what fun we had. Unfortunately, Joannie passed on a few years ago. But reading your stories, brought back those kind of memories too.

Thank you both again and again. I predict this thread will grow exponentially...your presentation has that kind of incomparable magnetism. (Example: "It aint Eastern Europe....it's Central...etc etc")

Tom and Tracy, Kim and Mary...Here's to your many, many future adventures all over the world.

As I often say on these pages...keep on truckin', and travel 'til you unravel!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It is so fun to relive our trips. Just looking at one picture can bring back so many vivid memories for me. And yes, we are very lucky that the four of us travel so well together, although I have to curtail our death marches on the first day from now on or there could be mutiny.

Wow, great blog, really enjoyed the read and the pictures. We have the same travel styles (like those afternoon vinos or beers). This will be a great help when we travel to this part of the world. Thanks so much for sharing!

Gwendolynn, Everyone is always invited. Hey, Stu, I'll buy the first round of martinis if I run into you in L.A. And yes, owlwoman, no trip is complete without afternoon libations.

Really enjoyed your report ST & ND time around.plus great pictures which helped us to relive our trip to Slovenia & Croatia April /May 09. We followed some of your footsteps & a lot of your advice & recommendations.& enjoyed them all , we only managed to go to the small Budva bar didn't know there was another one but enjoyed it anyway, Plitvice was spectacular even though it rained all the way, We stayed with Luca & family in Trogir. we had the same apartment.it was really great. Luca was so helpful he even picked us up & dropped us off at the bus station on arrival & departure. We really agree about the walking & distances quoted as "5 minutes away" !!!. I said that I would either be 100 lbs lighter (I wish) or 4 inches shorter "by the end of our trip. I felt I never wanted to see any more steps or hills for the rest of my natural! We have previously rented a car on our trips but as DH had turned 80 this year I thought he should have a rest!! from driving. I hadn't thought about the hauling of all our luggage into our lodgings etc. I had your job of arranging everything for two couples. happy to say we are still friends!! they live in the South Bay we Riverside CA not far from you. Thank you for your help advice & most of all the humor.

Jean

Jean, we also liked the place in Trogir. The funny thing I just remembered was that there were two sets of stairs that went to the upper floors, but you could only get to your room from the particular ones that went to your room. It was almost like it was two different hotels.

Well, of course, it seemed every time I went up the stairs, I chose the wrong set of stairs the first time. It was quite funny.

On a warm Southern California afternoon like today, I wish I could magically have the Buza Bar appear outside my back door.

Maitai, thanks so much for putting your terrific report altogether with your pictures. I read it before in bits and pieces. It was wonderful to have it all in one place to laugh and cry with you. Your puns and figures of speech are just such fun to read!

Thanks!

Maitaitom, fabulous report. I must ask - are you a professional writer? Loved the way you integrated your pics with your narrative. Also, did you write all this info on a laptop on a daily basis during your trip? How else could you remember it all?

This report will be cherished by your friends and offspring in the years ahead in addition to being appreciated for your the excellent advice and suggestions to today's travelers.

Thank you for sharing...
