One night somewhere on the Amalfi Coast, August 23rd?

Staying in Capri August 22, for one night and for August 23rd, would like to get a taste of the Amalfi Coast. The ferry from Capri goes to Amalfi and Positano among other places. After one night, will travel back to Naples and onward to Rome on August 24th. Can anyone advise which town to stay? Or skip altogether and spend the night in Naples? Thanks for your suggestions!

I would recommend Sorrento. What is your budget?

http://www.latonnarella.com/

It looks like it is $225/night at that time. Not a bad deal for one night, when most hotels in season have minimum stays of more than that.

Sorrento is not on the Amalfi Coast.

You'll have to do a lot of searching to find somewhere in high season for just one night. Try Montepertuso or Nocelle - you could find a B&B with availability. These little towns are connected to Positano by a bus that runs every half hour.

While noting that I think your plan, as I understand it (from this and other posts), FAR from romantic, I would say that I thought Ravello the most glorious place along the Amalfi Coat. But it is not easy to reach, and so if you can only give it one night, with the constraints you have already identified, I would not necessarily think it an ideal option.

And even as someone who likes to travel hard and fast, I think you are trying to travel TOO hard and TOO fast. JMO.

Naples. At the Excelsior or the Piazza Bellini.

If you can find a hotel, I'd choose Positano. It's much more picturesque than Amalfi and has a better choice of restaurants both in the village and down the steps to the sea.

Positano is the nearest of the villages to Sorrento which makes it easier to get back to Naples if you are using public transport. the train from Sorrento runs into Naples centre, connecting with train to Rome from within the same station, albeit on a different level.

You may need to see where you can actually find an available hotel room. We loved Positano. You may want to share your price range for the hotel to get better advice.

I don't think I would want to change locations so often but it's your trip.

I was taking the "among other places," coupled with staying only one night and recommending a very nice hotel with a wonderful family owned atmosphere and amazing views up and down the coastline. I recommended one of the few hotels I knew of that would take a single night's reservation.

In what way were you helpful to the OP?
