I have heard a rumor, that the first coffee house that opened in Vienna is still in operation.
Does anyone know it's name or address?
Oldest coffee house in Vienna?

It's not the oldest, but pretty old, you might like Cafe Central. It's very famous, a lot of well-known people used to go there (Freud, Trotsky), but it is also a nice, attractive spot. I think it has a lot more ambience than Frauen Huber.

We love the Cafe Central. When we lived in Vienna, I went every chance I could. Loved to show it to visitors.
When we were there last September, we had a delicious lunch and a lovely Mohr im Hemp for dessert. Perfection!

Thank you for your recommendations. I'm going to try them both! Can't go wrong with either one!
BettyK, I just finished looking at "memories of Austria", and about to start "magic of Poland". My family is from there, and we're going to Poland right after Vienna and Prague.
I wish I could pick your brain a little more...
McDee, I'll be happy to give you any help that I can.
Please do not ask for Mohr im Hemp- as shown above.
This fine dish is known as - Mohr im Hemd.

Thank you everyone. Those are wonderful suggestions. I wish I could visit them all, and who knows, maybe I will?
These cafes mentioned, can you just walk in, even for dinners, without reservation?
