Okay, don't lauch! But what are your favorite travel socks, with trousers?

I know that's a goofy question, but think about it...is there much worse than trouser socks that work their way down into your shoes, bunch up around your ankles, make your feet sweat, work their way into folds that end up chafing your feet, and are just thoroughly miserable??

I'm wanting to find a mid-weight (non-nylon weight), coolmax type of sock that doesn't do any of the above, keeps your feet dry, and make walking a joy instead of drudgery. I've got foot problems anyway, and the last thing I need are crummy socks with all the city walking we'll be doing on our upcoming trip. Black, casual/dressy flat shoes. Any suggestions out there???

I second the suggestion of Gold Toe socks. They are great and last a long time! No slipping and great weights. And I think lots of stores carry them: department stores, discount stores, have even seen them at Marshall's.

well, maybe it's just my feet, but gold toe and gap socks both slip on me. the ribbed ones from gap do okay for awhile, then after a few washings they seem to stretch out just enough that they won't stay up. and YES, i hate those seams, too!!!

what i'd really like to find are some knee-hi, if necessary, thin socks, but not hosiery socks (make my feet sweat too much), that are made of some new coolmax fabric and are MEANT to be worn for lots of walking. but not athletic.

tall order, i fear. but i will look into donna karan and a few other suggestions. any more??

Go to a really good department store, and look through their hoisery departments. You'd be surprised at the the choices.
All cotton , wool or silk is much coooler, more comfortable, and will allow the moisture to wick away from your feet. Walking around with wet, polyester socks will destroy your feet.
Also, look into mens socks. Some are sized to fit females and they can be very nice.

Jan; Hue brand makes a good blend sock that stays up. Many dept. stores and shoe stores carry Hue. I have also bought them from a website called: Alexblake.com

They carry Hue and other brands.

I take a variety: Hue, Hanes, Gold Toe, even a couple of pairs of cheap ones from discount stores. Depending upon which shoes I'm wearing, or where Jupiter is in alignment, one pair is going to slip and bunch. I carry a spare pair (oh so nice when my feet get wet) in my daypack/tote for just that occasion.

The VERY BEST socks in the world are SmartWool socks. These are seriously wonderful socks. They come in all sorts of styles, for hiking, walking, running, casual wear. They're expensive but wear forever and even tho wool, washable and wearable all year round. They make your feet feel springy somehow.
