Odyssey car rental in Athens
Has anyone used this car rental company before? Am interested in renting from them for a 5 day car rental to Pelponese area and they have some good rates. Would like to hear from people who have used them. Thanks in advance.

I don't know about their office in Athens, but their office on Santorini has been accused of fraud lately. Customers find falsified after-the-fact damage assessments on their credit card bills when they return home.

I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.
Also, before you go be sure to pick up an International Driving Permit at your local AAA office, no test or membership required.

The Budget-Athens care hire (not budget USA... use this link) http://www.budget-athens.gr/?gclid=C...Fdx05QodUkGLfw ... highly thought of by many forum experts who come annually, rent repeatedly. They send instant quotes, have a very large fleet, cars that others do not offer, lke a size between a sedan & a mini-van (i.e. VW station wagons) that will fit 5 people AND 5 sizable bags. Good reputation.
If you are good with a limited list of vehicles, Avanti/Swift has a special service. It's for people who dread driving on athens streets but who don't want to take an hour on the Metro to the airport to avoid that... you can go to A/S office or they pick u up at our hotel and their guy drives you right to the on-ramp for the major highway out of town.

This company is a fraud. They advertise themselves with a Better Business Bureau sticker etc., send a confirmation e-mail, look official. They are a scam: they never delivered our vehicle in Athens. The vehicle pick-up addresses on their website are fictitious. They did not take a deposit but charged the entire amount to my credit card. If their car rental prices seemed too good to be true, it was!!! Lesson learned the hard way

Last year my husband and I rented a car from you for 8 weeks.(June, July, August 2013)
We were really happy with your service and would like to know what you could do for our parents this year. They will be requiring a car for 9 weeks. They would like a Toyota Yaris like we had last year.
They arrive in Athens on the 8th April and , return to Australia on the 12th June.
I am not sure if you have already been contacted by another family member who is also going to Greece for 6 weeks at the end of June, they will either be getting 2 cars or a 9 seater.
Also, another member of the family in August.
So you can see that we are very happy to use your company and I am passing your name onto everyone when they tell us they are going to Greece.

We've used economy car rentals in Greece and always found them good - their headline prices tend to be cheap but they are usually even cheaper than initially appears as they often include items the other companies charge extra for e.g. CDW, child car seat. They mop up the excess rentals from the larger companies so when you get there you find that you are dealing with a recognised company, economy car rentals is just the conduit.

We have a friend who is Greek and lives in San Diego. She does tours in Greece every year and recommended the car rental company she uses - they are a local couple that she knows and trusts. They came to our hotel in Athens with the car and even though it took about 30 minutes to fill out the paperwork, it was great to not have to take public transport around Athens to go to a car rental place.
If you are intersted I can get the name & phone number from her. Let me know.

I would choose a rental company based not only on friends or the quality of cars and the good service, but also on the offices that they have allover Greece, so i can get help if something should happen.
If i am in Monemvasia and my car has a problem, i wouldn't want to wait for a car to be delivered from Athens.

Good point clausar. They may indeed have car rentals in other areas. They are a long time legit business just small. We also left the car at our hotel parking next to the Athens airport. Very convenient.
