October weather at Lake Garda?
We will be in Verona in mid October and are thinking of extending our trip to include 2 nights at Lake Garda. Can you give us an idea of what the temperatures will be like then? Will it be a lot colder at the northern end of the lake than in the south? Are there boats to take to see the whole lake at that time of year? We are open to any other suggestions, such as where to stay, etc. We will probably rent a car, if that is considered necessary. I love this forum and am anxious to hear back from some of you out there!!!

The weather should be very pleasantthen.
I have stayed in Malcesine and Sirmione along the lake. M is on the east side of the lake.along the Gardesana Orientale. S. is at the southern tip of the lake, on an peninsula. Both have more sun that the well known towns along the western shore of the lake, along the Gardesana Occidentale. The latter is the more breathtaking drive, but the mountains cut off the sun fairoly early in the afternoon.
I prefer Sirmioine, and there the hotels in the old part of the city, within the walls. Nice places to walk in parks, good restaurants, the boat landing is there also.
There are boats all along the lake. They are part of the transportation system, so they continue to run year round.
