Hi,
My family, 2adults, 2 kids are spending 10 days outside Prague in Kladno with relatives, but may want to stay with my children in Prague for a few days. In mid October, how difficult is it to book apartment accomodation at the last minute? Is this peak time?

September and October are peak times for Prague, or so I've been told. It seems that many travel then because it is after kids return to school. You could probably find something in mid-October, but would be better off booking ahead. That way you can get what you want rather than whatever happens to be left.
Especially for an apartment, I have found that it is best to book in advance as often the apartment owner will not have a place to go in the off-season.
We were in Prague a year ago October and found it impossible to get a hotel room without a reservation. We were already in Paris on vacation when my husband had to detour there on business. He works for a very large company, and even so it was a nightmare (and we tried many different classes of hotel). *Definitely* make a reservation.
