NY/NJ Fodorites GTG

I would like to set up a GTG on Saturday, 30 October, at Paula at Rigotello's in Weehawken, NJ, from Noon until ???

They are normally closed for lunch on Saturdays, but will open and provide a tailored menu for us if we have 15-20 Fodorites who would like to participate.

The alternative would be lunch at Margherita's in Hoboken, NJ.

Both restaurants are BYOB's. I will be bringing some of my Bud-Brew (wine) to offer to taste, and I understand that "traci_local_in_sa" will be sharing some of her Pinotage -- sounds delicious.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending. It should be fun!!!

e-mail me at [email protected]

3706 Park Avenue.

Weehawken, New Jersey, is just across the Hudson River from NYC.

Here's a site with the basic info & menus for Paula at Rigoletto http://lavacity.com/food_paula.php

Paula is a former personal chef to Bruce Springsteen. Her restaurant is supposed to be very good & BYO too

Cigale - Weehawken is in NJ straight across the river from Midtown Manhattan. It is easily accessible by the NY Waterway Ferry.

For those of you coming from NY (Midtown), here's a link to the NY Waterway. The Ferry leaves from Midtown (38th) to Port Imperial (Weehawken) every 20 minutes. Pls let me know if you require transportation from the Ferry terminal to the restaurant. http://www.nywaterway.com/portimperial_w38.html

For those arriving my car, you can get directions from mapquest. The address is 3706 Park Ave,
Weehawken, NJ 07086

So far we have 8 confirmed and 2 maybe's. We'll need between 15-20 to reserve the restaurant to open for us on Saturday lunch.

Wish I was back in NJ for it. I would love to try your wine Budman, May have to arrange to buy a bottle off you! Hoboken is the last place I lived in the U.S. and I am so glad Margheritas is still going. I have had some lovely meals there. I miss NY/NJ Italian food, its just not the same in Dublin!

Topping. Two weeks from tomorrow -- it should be a fun event.

Send me an e-mail if you are planning to attend so I can get a head count for the restaurant. [email protected]

Trish, we only have about 11-12 people confirmed. If we don't have 15-20, we'll have to move it to Margherita's in Hoboken, NJ. It will be an open seating vs. a reserved restaurant.

I'm going to make that decision on the 25th or 26th and will send out an e-mail to everyone with directions/change of venue.

The West Coast Fodors group will be sending out some of their wines from CA for us to taste, but we have to send pictures.

For those on the fence, this is going be a very nice event.

Ok time to put the pressure on all you Fodorites...we need a few more folks to make our quota for Paula in Rigoletto...an excellent restaurant. I will be glad to pick up anybody from the Ferry and bring you to the restaurant and back!

Budman...working on convincing DH to come too...looking good on that front. I'll bring my digital camera to keep Kal & the Yountville folks happy. Limoncello too anyone?

Yes!!

So far, we have 10 definite, 2 husbands still on the fence, and one Fodorite who hasn't made up her mind. The more, the merrier. I'm hoping for a good turnout.

Where's the NYCFoodSnob??

I'm really looking forward to this, and especially the exchange of grape gifts with the Yountville GTG.
