You need to state a hotel budget before anyone can make suggestions.

I'm thinking 3500-4500$ for the whole trip. 100$ to 200$ a night, want to switch it up abit nice place for two days another cheaper place two days and so on. thought it will give me a full view of the town.

I would move at least one of your days to Rome, probably two. Then it would be Venice (11/8-11/12) and Rome (11/12-11/17. You can search on thisboard for "inexpensive Venice hotels". I don't think I would move hotels every 2 days. You won't be spending that much time inside. Venice, in particular has a small central area so you will see most everything within walking distance.

Make sure you book a "multicity flight into Venice and out of Rome.

Agree with mamcalice - fly into Venice and home from Rome so you dont have to spend the time and money to backtrack to Venice.

I did a quick check on ITA and Delta is indeed your only option for non-stops both ways. Which is a good idea - I would personally NEVER sacrifice going non-stop just to be on a nicer airline...

Each of these is JFK-VCE (Venice) and then FCO (Rome) - JFK for the return home. Prices include all taxes/fees.

You'll take a train from Venice to Rome.
About $80 USD per person in 2nd class.

#1 $969 - depart 11/8 and return 11/16 (one day less than original plan)

#2 $1133 - depart 11/8 and return 11/18 (one day more than original plan)

#3 $1143 - depart 11/8 and return 11/17 (original plan)

You don't really save coming back a day later since you'll need another nights hotel, but you DO get another day in Italy! You need to decide what's best for you.

Before I suggest hotels, I need to know what is left in your budget after flights and train tickets.

I agree that whatever number of total nights you end up with that you plan for three nights in Venice and the remaining nights in Rome.

This is for two reasons:
1) Venice is MUCH smaller than Rome and
2) Venice hotels are more expensive
