NW Fodorites' Seattle GTG Report

We had a blast. You've never heard so many conversations taking off at the same time.
Attending were myself, Blair, Wendy & Dayne, Carla & Matthew, Annette, Jean & George, Capo & Jennifer, and Andrea. (We lost Betsy to the Super Bowl.)
This was the best mini-party I've been to in ages---and the best food: an East Indian buffet at Rosoie!
A couple of digital photos are on www.costumegoddess.com/nwfodorites.htm
More photos were taken by Carla and others; I'm sure they'll be appearing shortly.
Thanks for the report and photos! Any guests from Portland, or are we going to host our own get-together? I couldn't make it up there yesterday since I had to attend a big Super Bowl party hosted by my boss. Since he's great about granting me time off for last minute travel deals, I figured that I should be a good guest and show up. Maybe next time, I'll make it up there.
Carla & Matthew drove up from Portland. Chuck from Portland and Jeanne & Scott from Portland wanted to come but had other plans. The Portland contingent will have to host a party there, and several of the Seattleites would attend, I'm sure. I've never been to Portland!

Thanks again, Dina, for putting this together; Jennifer & I had a wonderful time. It was very nice to meet everyone, talk about travel and other things, and especially nice to have our "southern neighbors" make the drive up to Seattle.

Portland's a great city and a Pacific Northwest get-together there in the future would be fun.

Dina -- I liked to your page from the "fodorite" site. Additionally I will be putting some of Carla's pictures up later today I hope!

It looked like a LOT of fun -- but why do you all wear red coats?

I think the red coats were some kind of a Revolutionary War theme thing, since the Patriots were playing in the Super Bowl the same day. :~)

Well, I am overwhelmed by the effusive praise and thanks. And it really wasn't much trouble. With gleeful selfishness, I chose a restaurant a few blocks from home. (Selfishness is an under-rated pleasure.) But actually, it WAS perfect. Probably because of Superbowl, the place was almost empty, so our cacaphony didn't bother anyone.

In case the photo had anyone wondering, Dayne is of average height. The rest of the group are midgets, except for me; I'm a Lillipution. I wore high heels, but it didn't help. Dear Wendy is related to the Rachel character on "Friends," I'm sure, otherwise how could they have the same voice and mannerisms? Capo brought a stand-in for the photo; the real Capo is a 68-year-old retired female schoolteacher who smokes like a chimney.

So you all either wore red coats or black leather! What did the leather signify? I admire your theme get togethers. You all look like such nice people! Are you really? :^)

I'll add my three cheers for Dina for organizing our NW Fodorite GTG. Such a fun event! Be sure to go to a Fodorite GTG if you get a chance. So many of avoid talking about our travel plans with friends, co-workers and relatives who we suspect view us as a little nuts or to avoid arousing their jealousy. Sharing those travel obsessions with a group of people who are actually interested is heaven. I hope we do it again within the year.

P.S. - I'm leaving for London this week with my black coat and red pants!

How great to see so many regulars in person!

Wendy, you and Dayne are such a cute couple. Dayne sorta reminds me of my ex who is 6'4". How tall is Dayne really?

And Capo and Jennifer are such a cute couple, too. Sally, I guess you and I must bow out now, no? But it will always be a pleasure to read Capo's ripostes and rejoinders.

Dina, fabulous job!!

Mary C you are so sweet! Dayne is actually 6'6" which puts him a full foot taller than me. For those of you who read my post about being in Paris with him now will understand the "gulliver travels" experience! haha!
