Norway travel help: Bergen-Gjendesheim-Oslo

I am organizing travel for a group of 10 that will be doing a hut to hut hike in September in Norway. We have the sleeping arrangements mostly in place but I need to book travel: Bergen-Gjendesheim-Oslo. My online searches tell me this is a combination of trains and busses. Although I usually have little trouble booking travel in other countries I am finding this one difficult - perhaps it is the language. Can someone point me to an agency that might do this for me? So far I have only found companies that want to book complete tours. Thanks!

check www.seat61.com for trains and check www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com for general info.

Most Norwegians speak very good English IME - email whatever you are trying to book or even phone for help. Doubt if you'll find something that will book all buses and trains - maybe contact a travel agency in Norway or the Norwegian National Tourist Office.

We tried to do the same trip in reverse a few years ago and ended up renting cars. You should be able to go from Bergen to Ryfoss by bus and then from Ryfoss to Gjendesheim by a second bus. Total travel time is 7 hours not including the stopover. The connection may not be ideal.

You should be able to get more details here:

Sounds like you are doing Besseggen. Fantastic hike.

The second bus has doubled in time as I tried new dates. You might be better to take the Bergen bus further to Fagernes.

I now remember why we rented cars.

Thank you! Yes, that's the hike. If you have any pointers they would be much appreciated!

My only advice would be to give yourself some extra time if it is wet. The section from the ridge itself to Gjendesheim is very rocky and can be slippery when wet.

Looking out from the top of the ridge is something you will not forget. Great choice you have made.

As a complete long shot (you mentioned hut to hut) I remember reading the second reply from iverh in this thread and thinking of trying it:

Bergen - Fagernes on the NW 162 from Bergen, Fagernes - Gjendesheim on the NW 161 to Leirvassbu

NW 161 comes from Oslo, so may be revise your plans and travel to Gjendesheim from Oslo instead of from Bergen.

https://www.nor-way.no/en-US/routes/download-timetables

NW 161 from Gjendesheim is straight to Oslo. Takes a while though.
