Norway itinerary question

My husband and I are booked on the National Geographic/Lindblad Norwegian fjord trip which leaves Bergen on 5/29 and ends in Oslo after breakfast on 6/12. We would like to spend extra time in both of these cities. How many extra days in each would be recommended? We like to see places in depth with the idea that we might never get back there again. Is there a Norway in a Nutshell day trip we should do from either of these cities? Right now I was thinking of about 2 1/2 days in Bergen and 3 days in Oslo. Thanks for your help.

Where does the cruise go? The Norway in a Nutshell tour goes to Sognefjorden which may already be on your cruise itinerary.

You probably will get plenty of fjord views on your tour. No need to do the Nutshell trip. Your estimate of time spent in the cities is good.

Thanks so much. I think we'll skip the Nutshell trip.

Agree that you should probably skip the Nutshell trip. I did an expedition-style cruise with Quark to Spitsbergen and the Nutshell tour after. After all the fjords I visited on the cruise, the Nutshell trip was anticlimactic.

Three days is enough to see the major sites and museums in Oslo. I enjoyed the Fram museum, especially.

You'll love Bergen. Be sure to treat yourself to a wonderful dinner at Potetkjelleren while there. It was our best meal in all of Norway!

Thank you so much for the restaurant recommendation. I'll put it on my list.

Just down the street there is also a lovely spot for cocktails, it's new and is called Biblioteket Bar. A nice place before or after dinner.
