Norway-in-Nutshell, August weather

I'm ready to book our Norway in a Nutshell trip and wonder what temperstures to expect for the various parts of the trip in late August. We're going Oslo to Bergen on August 23rd. Also, any preferred side of the train/train/ferry/bus/train?
Thanks

The weather in Norway is a crapshoot. Seriously. I spent a summer in the fjörds north of Bergen and it was generally pretty cold (usually under 60, sometimes we made 70) but then I went to Oslo and it rained the first day, then the following day was so hot that I had to take a nap during the day.

In August things are cooling off as the days are getting shorter, but I wouldn't think it would be particularly cold. Definitely no scorchers, though.

Hi SteveGC

We might bump into each other, We'll be leaving for Oslo on Aug. 20th and plan to be on the train for the Norway in a Nutshell trip on the 22nd. We are stopping in Gudenvangen then will continue to Bergen. I'm planning one pair of long pants, a sweater and a rain coat. I'm winging the rest. From everything I've read, I expect rain and that's what I'm planning for. I'll be pleasantly surprised for sun! Oh yes, and I plan to wear very comfortable clothes for the train/ferry/boat, etc.

Late August may be warm/rain/chilly. Often Aug is better than July, but as we've had a warm July this year, possibly the opposite in August. Dress for any eventuality except snow.
