Northern Germany advice needed!!
I just found out that my husband and I will be going to a wedding in Hanover,Germany in early November. We will be there for one week. Should we stay put in Hanover and/or Hamburg? Is there enough to see in that region or should we venture out to Berlin, Frankfurt, or other surrounding areas? Any suggestions? What would be the best airpost to fly in and out of?

Hannover has an airport, many European airlines have flights to it. Try British Airways, Lufthansa or KLM/Northwest from the USA. Hannover is not a beautiful city, but the Harz Mountains are not far. Wernigerode in former East Germany is nice. If you like cities, go to Berlin.
Germany has many pretty places, but most tourists are attracted to southern Germany for good reason. One of the most famous routes in Europe is from Frankfurt to Munich known as the Romantic Road. You drive through gentle rolling hills, peaceful farmland and lovely towns not touched by the War. The most outstanding is Rotenburg. It is a medevel city that has been suspended in time.
Most German cities are commercial centers that have been reconstructed from the ground up. Thanks to Allied bombing virtually nothing is old. This can also be said of Munich, but it has a special charm with vast parks, palaces and restaurants in lovely outdoor areas.
You might want to rent a car and drive through the Romantic Road. It is a well maintained road, but not a super highway with very aggressive drivers. Also there are bus tours from Frankfurt through the area which terminates in Munich.
Another idea is to take a boat ride down the Rhein. As an example, you might stay in Mainz which is a suburb of Frankfurt. Mainz is on the river with boat tours available. Hotel rooms are much cheaper in Mainz than in Frankfurt. Mainz is a interesting town in its own right. And you can hop on a train and be in central Frankfurt in half an hour.
Unfortunately, winter comes early in Germany and you'll be in the worst of it in November.

Hanover is the host of the Expo 2000 at the moment, but i don't really know whether it would end when you will arrive. Just Check this! I am also a supporter for the trip to Berlin.

Definitely, the best airport to fly in/out is Flughafen Frankfurt am Main. The Deutschbahn service is very good, so I think there would not any problems with train connection from the airport to anywhere.

My husband and I have been to Germany many times and usually in the off seasons.Just be prepared for cold weather and rain and you will enjoy yourself! We always fly into Frankfurt because of the easy access from there. I would suggest you fly into Hanover and out of Frankfurt to save some time. We have one rule when going to Frankfurt. Get out as soon as possible! Frankfurt is very large and we think Germany more has so much more to offer. We don't want to waste time there. (I am sure I will get blasted for saying this and if you have lots of time Frankfurt might be interesting..) There are trains leaving from the Frankfurt airport so it is very easy to begin or end a trip there. Also, Germany is small so you can go a lot of places in just 3 or 4 hours on the trains and really see a lot of the country.
