Normandy

I live about an hour from Nuremberg in Germany and would like to make the trip to see where the Battle of Normandy took place over a 4 day weekend. What is the best way to get there? Fly to CDG and rent a car? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

With such a short amount of time, flying and renting a car is probably your best bet if that's within your budget. (We drove from Bonn when we made this trip, but Nuremberg is a lot further from Normandy than Bonn and we had 4 people, so flying would have been a big expense.)

If flying and renting a car is not in your budget, you could just drive, but that would mean 2 days of driving and 2 days in Normandy. Personally, I think you could visit the highlights of the area in 2 days.

I'd recommend looking at accommodations in Bayeux and including a visit to the Bayeux Tapestry.

I'll make my usual suggestion of the Hotel Bayeux in Bayeux. It is squeaky clean, largish rooms, car park next door, and VERY economical. Five minutes from the Tapestry and five minutes from the cathedral, as well as being close to the way to exit Bayeux to get on the road to the sites.

Great thank you! So flying into Charles De Gaulle would be my best bet. Is there a closer airport?

It's only 2.5 hours to drive it and car rental would be available.

Beauvais (Ryanair) might be closer and avoids traffic around Paris.
