No train service showing on Trenitalia for Venice to Milan in Dec?
hi all
i was trying to book tickets on Trenitalia from Venice to milan in mid Dec but there are apparently no train services.
Is this a system glitch? Is anyone else getting the same results?
Thanks!

I went to the American Airlines website and tried to book a flight for the year 2017 and found the same thing! ;0)
Bookings on Trenitalia.com usually open 120 days ahead for high-speed, 90 days for other trains.
But there's the big twice-yearly timetable change on the second Sunday in June and in December, and everything opens late.
Bookings for dates after 14 December are likely to open between mid-October and the first days of November. Just sit tight!

If you're looking for low prices, I would keep checking, starting now, because last year the high-speed Freccia train winter schedules were already published in September. If they come out in the next few weeks, the best discounts may already be gone by October.
The regional train schedules are always the last to be published, sometimes just a few weeks before the changeover, because the regions (who partially subsidize regional service) are always squabbling with Trenitalia over proposed service cuts. This is not a great inconvenience, because there are no discounts for regional trains, and no advantage to buying the tickets online; in fact, it's actually disadvantageous to do so.
If you just want to see the schedules and get an idea of undiscounted prices, I suggest using a date in the near future, the same day of the week as your planned travel. The prices and schedules don't change drastically. Regional train prices are shown only for the next seven days.

Glad you got your route, but Trenitalia seems to upload the winter schedules (starts the 2nd weekend in Dec) in bit and pieces. Some routes/lines may be available already and others not. For the ones not showing yet, you just have to keep checking.
