Nightlife in Saint Remy de Provence

Three couples in our 50s will be in Saint Remy for four nights first week of May. We are looking for cafes and wine bars to go to before and or after dinner in town. Has anyone been to Rex or Bar Rok? We don't want to go somewhere and find everyone in their 20 s. Thank you for your suggestions

I think that Saint Rémy is a town for resting up at night after a couple of drinks. But since it is rich, it probably has swingers clubs, too.

(Jeez, I thought I was joking when I wrote that, but I decided to check and Google gave me about a dozen addresses! Then I saw that most of them were actually in Avignon. You're safe -- or disappointed.)

Cafes are pretty open, meaning many have open-air terraces where you can easily see the general clientele, certainly in May. True, some do skew very young, but it should be obvious just be looking at the place as well as who is sitting there.

I never plan anything like this, just go places I see when in a town/city that are near my hotel. But you can tell Bar Rok is for younger people by the fact that it has a DJ on weekends (not to mention the name is a dead giveaway). I have not been there, but they have a Facebook page with photos, you can see if this is the type of place you like to hang out. Or how about the guys in these photos? http://top10bars.fr/018182/instagrams/

It isn't really a cafe or a wine bar exactly, it's just a bar with a DJ and some live music late at night on weekends. The Rex is partly concert venue, but does have better ratings as a wine bar, and reviews on Tripadvisor which appear to be mostly (all?) in French. However, one of them by an older woman says <<Un endroit ouvert à toutes les tranches d'âges. Une animation très variée selon les soirs depuis des expositions, des cours de danses, des soirées à thèmes, etc..... Ambiance très bonne pour tous les âges. Des consommations à des tarifs peu élevés>>

if you don't read French, she says it is a spot open to all age brackets, and a good ambiance for all ages. It also has Facebook, etc pages so you can see what it looks like.

Neither of those is exactly the kind of place I'd go just to have a quiet drink after dinner but maybe that's not what you are looking for, but I def. wouldn't go to Bar Rok from what you seem to seek. TO mentions this wine bar, maybe give it a look http://www.saintremy-de-provence.com...-d-oeuvre.html
