Night Watchman's Tour in Rothenburg

We will be in Rothenburg next May and hope to do the Night Watchman's Tour- is there a night that is better than others- making sure we have the tour in English and do it the right way. Thank you!

The 8pm tour is always in English, and I think it's always been the same person, so I suspect any day is good.

It's not always the same person. Mr. Baumgartner has become quite wealthy shepherding this highly entertaining enterprise and he does take large blocks of time off, usually in the low season. I expect he will be in the robes in May.

NO night is better than another because the content is the same but I think it is more fun to take the tour when there are a lot of children or an otherwise engaged crowd - the more the merrier on a tour like this. Just don't dawdle at the back of the pack

I loved his tour, a bit hokey but still fun. We had a good group. Rothenburg has a lot of tourist during the day but the evening is so nice when they leave. Very enjoyable and we stayed two evenings there.

We have done this tour about three times. Much fun. He used to do it for no charge at front and asked for tips. That system changed a long time ago. It has always been at 8 pm from the town square as long as we have been going to Rothenburg. No difference in what night you choose unless he takes one night off.

Its been 25 years since I was there, but that sounds like a fun experience for the next visit.
