Night Train VENICE-ROME

Hi all! Hope eveyone is well. Thanks so much for all of your great advice. Here is another question for you. Our flight leaves from Rome at 7 am on Nov 1. I checked Trentalia and they have an all night train from Venice on Oct 31 getting into Rome at 4:45 am. Is that too close to try? Would it be better to just go to Rome earlier that day? Thanks for your help on this...

For me, the answer would depend on how Rome figures into your itinerary already - - and how much time is allocated to Venice (for that matter, what is the entire itinerary!?)

Rome can be so pleasant in the evening, I would probably opt for the departure around 4 or 5 pm (didn't look at the schedules); get into Rome by 9 pm, and stay up enjoying the city - - especially the Trevi-Navona "axis" clear to midnight. Have your hotel pre-arrange a 4 am cab for you; they'll get you to FCO pronto at that hour of the morning. You've got nothing to do but sleep on the plane, all the way home.

Best wishes,

Rex

From Rome Termini station takes another half hour by express train to airport, I am afraid you won't be there in time for check-in. Besides, the delays of train in Italy are not unusual.

As Rex's suggestion, it is probably less stressful to stay in Rome overnight.

Thanks for the advice (my gut told me it was so but I always ask!).

We booked a room at the Fellini B&B for the last night. Seems like a good rate at 135 (even though the limo service to the airport looks as if it will be 60). We'll get in late afternoon I would think and just try to enjoy the city for our last night (we will have spent a week there earlier in the month).

Thanks again!
