Night Train Barcelona-Granada
Hi everybody,
Need another advise: I can't book tickets at Renfe web "http://www.renfe.es/index.html" for night train Barcelona to Granada for late September. The site allows only day train whis no comments on night train. What's wrong? Options?
Thx, Nata.

You might have to break down and call a travel agent on this one; we used an agent in Spain while we were there but someone here can help you I am sure and the small fee will be worth it. I'm not sure about Bcn-Gra, I know they go Bcn-Sev and the reverse as well. Good luck and have fun!

Several agentes can help you
You can use Euraide in Florida, http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...e/homepage.htm, telephone 1 941-480-1555 fax 1 941-480-1522 [email protected]). Also you can book through four firms in Britain:
Trainseurope Ltd, of Cambridgeshire and London, take credit card bookings by phone and mail tickets to any address. Have the widest access in Britain to rail systems and tickets. http://www.trainseurope.co.uk/ - E-mail [email protected]. Phone 00 44 900 195 0101 - calls from Britain cost 60 pence or 40 euros a minute, maximum 5, but if the enquiry results in a booking, the cost of the call is deducted from the final invoice. Phone Mon to Fri 10 to 5 British time
German Rail UK: www.deutsche-bahn.co.uk/ Phone : 00 44 870 243 53 63 then 6. Fax : 00 44 208 339 4700. E-mail : [email protected]

For international tickets, berths and seats Trainseurope are ten percent cheaper than German Rail UK or Ffestiniog Travel. For domestic Italian trains they are cheaper again. German Rail UK are cheaper than Trainseurope or Ffestiniog Travel for domestic trains within Germany and may be competitive with them for international trips with a big proportion of miles in Germany. Trainseurope take Visa and MasterCard, but not Amex or Diners.
RailEurope take a thirty percent markup on standard prices.

We've encountered similar problems when trying to book directly through renfe.es. After reading this string I think we have decided to contact a travel agent. We will respond with additional informatio when available. But, a few more questions:
1. Myself, my sister, brother-in-law, and 50 something year old mother would like information on the sleeping accomodations on board. For my 50 year old mother's sake, how private are they and can you actually sleep? She seems to still suffer from some type of locker room horror and anything less than a down comforter is just not satisfactory.
2. What's the difference between a sleeper cabin vs. a couchett cabin?
3. Should we just leave mom in the US?
No need to answer the third Q.

Hi , LOL, well I am older than your mother in law but less fussy. TKsG
In Spain there are hotel trains. I guess it does run between Barcelona and Andalucia.
Anyway, we took an Hotel Train between Madrid and Paris. For the utmost confort you have to travel
Gran Clase, it was very pleasant, a private cabin for two, own bathroom with everything including a shower, dinner, cocktails, and breakfast. A good attendant who made the beds for us while we were sipping cocktails and eating good fresh fish
in the dinning room wagon.
It was expensive but not that expensive two years ago, to-day of course it will be more so. Buena suerte.

I would really like to know just what the source of Mr. Haines' information about a 30% mark-up in prices by RailEurope is? Personal information? Comparing prices between RailEurope and railroad websites?
We hear about these markups quite a bit but I have yet to see any substantiating information which is unfortunate.
