Nice restaurant for Mother's Day in Paris

My mom and I will be arriving in Paris that afternoon (a Sunday, obviously) by train from the French countryside, and I would like to have a restaurant reserved for that evening to celebrate mother's day (American mother's day, that is: May 14). This will probably be one of our splurge meals, but I don't want to go too over the top (my mom's not really a "foodie")--maybe 75-100E per person for meal, dessert, & wine.

We'll be staying in the 6th near the Odeon metro stop, so getting anywhere in the city should be fairly easy. Thanks everyone!

Hi G,

La Mediteranee, 2 pl Odeon, is open on Sundays.

It is very good, and will be at the low end of your budget.

Le Train Bleu at the Gare de Lyon: a beautiful restaurant that dates from the turn of the century. I've had two good meals there (oddly enough last time was May 14, '05, my b-day)and recommend it for a special dinner. www.le-train-blue.com

Hi g33,
I suggest the following for an absolute impression on mom!
First choice would be - Restaurant Le Ciele on the very top of Tour Montparnasse - the view is incredible and better than the Eiffel tower. Day or night you've gotta get her up there!
At night it must be like dining on a thousand stars with those twinkling lights of Paris below!
Secondly, my own experience of dining at Laduree on Champs Elysees. Lovely window seat with lots of people watching even at night. Lovely food.
Third, if she hankers after a bit of the ol' Chinoise after all those French meals in the country, try Dragons Elysees (off the Champs) It's the one with glass floors over a huge fishpond.
There is a table for two right next to the main pond!
Have fun - you are an exceptional planner and your mom will have a grand time.
Have you settled on a hotel yet?
Regards,
Tod

Great suggestions, gang--keep 'em coming.

Tod, I booked a twin room at the Hotel Jardin de l'Odeon last night. They had a great Internet rate for the classic (i.e., small) room, it has great reviews on Tripadvisor, and it's near the Odeon metro stop. I hope it will be as nice as the reviews indicate.
